Favorite Lyric: mystery
“For my life is wholly bound to His, oh how strange and divine, I can sing, all is mine, yet not I but through Christ in me”
Colossians 1:24–29 (ESV)
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
Paul
Paul
Paul is rejoicing in his suffering… we know Paul suffered an incredible amount in his life… But he endured it because he desired to make God’s Word fully known to all people, this glorious mystery of Christ in us
Us
Us
Doing this camp, we are not necessarily in a state of suffering… but we are making a huge sacrifice in our lives…
My hope with this short devotional is that we would remember to rejoice in our sacrifice, for the sake of these students…
To make God’s Word fully known, the strange and divine mystery, Christ in you the hope of glory, how we are champions in Him, and we can sing that all is ours, yet it’s not us but Christ through us…
It is Him that we proclaim, warning these students (and yes, this is often a heavy message), teaching the wisdom that we have learned so that they can mature in Christ…
This is our struggle, our work this week… And it is God who will give us the strength this week
As we sing this song and take communion… let us remember the work that Jesus did on the cross, the hope that we have because of it and the glorious mystery of Christ in us
