The book of Acts affords us many opportunities to think about why we don’t see stunning miracles like this in our day.
Of course, there are miracles that take place in our day although they may not be as overt as this one in Acts 14
…and we also know that the historical period recorded in Acts was a unique period in which the message of Jesus gained a hearing by miracles performed in the name of Jesus.
But another reason we may not see so many stunning miracles in our day is found in James 4:3, which says…
James 4:3 NASB95
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
I think many times the miracle of healing that we may ask for is not requested so that Jesus can be exalted but only so that we can have the pleasure of being healed.
