Jephthah Becomes Israel’s Judge

Now Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead, but his mother was a prostitute. 2 Gilead’s wife also had several sons, and when these half brothers grew up, they chased Jephthah off the land. “You will not get any of our father’s inheritance,” they said, “for you are the son of a prostitute.” 3 So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Soon he had a band of worthless rebels following him.

4 At about this time, the Ammonites began their war against Israel. 5 When the Ammonites attacked, the elders of Gilead sent for Jephthah in the land of Tob. 6 The elders said, “Come and be our commander! Help us fight the Ammonites!”

7 But Jephthah said to them, “Aren’t you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father’s house? Why do you come to me now when you’re in trouble?”

WHAT IS USUALLY MEANT BT THE colloquialism “GET OVER IT”

IS TO STOP FEELING UNHAPPY ABOUT SOMETHING, OR STOP BEING CONTROLLED OR BOTHERED BY SOMETHING

AND SOMETIME WHEN YOU AND I ARE

DISAPPOINTED BY SOMEONE

OR OFFENDED BY SOMEONE

OR HAVE A GRIEVANCE WITH SOMEONE

SOMETIMES....

IT’S HARD TO MOVE PAST THE OFFENSE

AND YOU ARE PERPETUALLY BOTHERED BY IT

AND ANNOYED BY IT

AND TO BE FLAT OUT HONEST, THE SITUATION RENTS SPACE IN YOUR HEAD

YOUR BRING IT UP REPEATEDLY

AND YOU JUST CAN’T SEEM TO MOVE ON

HAS ANYBODY EVER BEEN THERE

AND SOMETIMES FOR YOU TO MOVE ON

YOU NEED CLOSURE ( Sometimes you can’t move on because you haven’t gotten closure. you haven’t been given the platform to speak your truth & please whatever you do don’t hijack my feelings and tell me it ain’t that deep, it might not be that deep to you, but at least give me the decency of acknowledging my feelings) You hurt me, and you oughta at least hear me out about how i feel about the trifling mess you did

TIME ( It’s too fresh. You haven’t even processed it yet) two scriptures i want you to look at

Ecclesiastes 3:4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.

A time to grieve and a time to dance

When you are offended, disappointed or hurt you will feel everything your emotions are telling you. You are having a human experience!

Even Jesus said and i’m paraphrasing “I Don’t Want To Fell Like This, Before He Said Never The Less, Not My Will But Yours Be Done”

So you have to process it to be able to articulate what you feel before you can even talk about getting closure or moving on

3. FORGIVENESS ( You have to be able to practice true biblical forgiveness )

a lot of times we view ourselves as forgiving people, bur true biblical forgiveness involves more than just words, there must be action that follows.

Why We Can’t Move On

WHO: SOMETIMES WE CAN’T MOVE ON BECAUSE OF WHO HURT US. THE TEETH IN THAT THING IS TIED TO WHO DID IT!

PSALM 55:12–14  This isn’t the neighborhood bully

This isn’t a foreign devil spitting

invective—I could tune that out. (■ noun abusive or highly critical language, ATTACKING

WHAT: ( URIAH ) SOMETIMES IT’S HARD TO MOVE ON WHEN YOU KMNOW HOW DIRTY SOMEBODY DID YOU ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LOYAL TO THEM.

THEY TRY TO KILL JOSEPH BECAUSE HE GIT BIG DREAMS AND HE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO BELIEVE IN HIMSELF THAT HE COULD ACTUALLY ACHIEVE

BECAUSE REMEMBER JOSEPH TELLING HIS BROTHERS HIS DREAM IS WHAT PROMPTED THEM TO WANT TO KILL HIM

WHAT HIS BROTHERS WAS SAYING IS ......WE DON’T MIND YOU DREAMING JUST DON’T DREAM OUT LOUD

AND CAN I SUGGEST ..... THATS WHY YOU GOTTA DO A ROW CHECK WHEN YOU COME INTO THE HOUSE OF GOD

MAKE SURE YOU SITTING NEXT TO SOMEBODY THAT DON’T MIND YOU GETTING LOUD FOR GOD

CAUSE IF YOU ONLY KNEW HOW GOOD GOD BEEN TO ME

ARE THERE ANY WITNESSES IN THE HOUSE OF GOD TODAY?

CAUSE IT’S IN HIM THAT I LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE MY BEING

MODERN DAY… IT DONT TAKE ALL THAT..
