I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
I know how much Makhi and Terry Jr. were dedicated to football. So we reached out to one of the greatest NFL football players ever and told him about Makhi and TJ’s sudden passing and he sent a message. Here it is.... (video of Richard Seymore.)
The Boston Boys have touched thousands.
Makhi and Terry Jr. come from a good bloodline. I can only speak to one side of their family tree. if you look back, you will find greatness on both sides of their family tree. Their grandmother, Quensella Cooper, was one of the greatest members of this church. When she was in the south, she was one of the youth speakers in the civil rights movement. And she escaped from the south, because the Ku Klux Klan tried to take her life. So her family moved to Boston.
Quensella died of cancer, but her faith was so strong that people came closer to the Lord from her testimony. She touched my life in a deeper profound way. I had the good fortune of saying a prayer over Shakeyah when her mother carried her in the womb. I dedicated her to the Lord when she was a child. And when Shakeyah had her babies, Mai and TJ, I dedicated them to the Lord when they were children.
Makhi and Tj remind me of two men in the Bible. David and Jonathan. Jonathan was the prince of Israel, the son of Saul; and David was the future king of Israel. The Bible says, "Jonathan loved David as his own soul." He would do anything for DAVID. The two of them became brothers. Jonathan and DAVID were inseparable. One was power, and the other was might. One was wisdom, and the other was understanding. One was Joy and the other was happiness.
Jonathan died in battle. When he died, David cried out, “ how the mighty have fallen. He said, “tell it not in Gath. Mountains of Gilboa, may there be neither Dew nor rain, may no showers fall on your fields, for the shield of the mighty was despised, and the shield of power is no longer rubbed with oil.”
Instead I say, “Tell it everywhere. To mighty brothers with taken away suddenly, but they have not fallen. They have risen to the skies. These were two great young men who loved each other deeply. Who stood signed by side on the battlefield of life. Who made their mothers, Kiah and their father, Terry Brown. They did not die on the battlefield sub for these violence streets. But they gave their lives to the battle of the gridiron.
God created Mikai and Terry to be powerful and body and soul. They were strong on the football field. Makhi had a big heart…
Tj had a great mind. When he was six years old, he wrote president Obama and asked, “why can’t I vote.” Makhi was one of greatest linemen in Massachusetts. One paved the way, and the other celebrated the path. They drew friends like a trees to birds… I’ve never seen two boys make friends like they did. the Bible says, “He who is a friend must show himself friendly. “
They were on their way to being NFL athletes with strong character. They went straight from the 10 yard line to the touchdown. They were together in life and together in death. Now they are together in heaven.
Jesus told his hearers in Jerusalem, “My sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and no one will snatch them out of my Father’s hand.”
Have you thought about what happens after we die?
As Christians, we believe in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, which means that our journey doesn't end when our physical bodies die.
Life on earth is like the first chapter of a much larger story. no matter how long or short that chapter may be. It’s just one chapter in our true story. We were born for the purpose of loving God, and we live to the glory of God, and we die to be in the presence of God. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
I watched you release hundreds of balloons into the sky. You were telling everyone Makhi and JT have eternal life.
Eternal life means that we have a never-ending, loving relationship with God. It's like entering into a new and glorious chapter of existence, where we are surrounded by God's love, peace, and joy forever.
In this eternal life, there is no pain, suffering, or sadness. We are free from the limitations and brokenness of this world. It's a place where all the good things we experience on earth—love, beauty, friendship, and fulfillment—are magnified and perfected.
Eternal life isn't just a distant future; it starts right now. When we choose to follow Jesus, we experience His love, forgiveness, and guidance in our lives. We can have a personal relationship with Him, and His presence can bring us hope, purpose, and joy each day.
Eternal life isn't just about the quantity of time; it's about the quality of existence. It's about being in the presence of God, being known and loved by Him, and experiencing a life that is beyond our imagination.
So, as you navigate your teenage years, remember that this life is just the beginning of a beautiful and eternal adventure with God. Embrace the love and grace that Jesus offers, and let it shape the way you live and interact with others.
Take comfort in the hope of eternal life, and let it inspire you to live each day with purpose, kindness, and a desire to make a positive impact on the world around you.
