A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.
1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
2 to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
3 to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
4 For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.
5 How great are your works, O Lord!
Your thoughts are very deep!
6 The stupid man cannot know;
the fool cannot understand this:
7 that though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
8 but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
9 For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
for behold, your enemies shall perish;
all evildoers shall be scattered.
10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;
you have poured over me fresh oil.
11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.
12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They still bear fruit in old age;
they are ever full of sap and green,
15 to declare that the Lord is upright;
he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

I want to re-introduce or introduce for the first time this series which is called “Planted & Flourishing from Psalm 92.
This is a HALLMARK series, its a foundational one to us here at Colonial.
And every couple of years we do this series to return to it - to re engage in it - to remember it and to reinesvt our lives all over again in Gods house.
so Ps 92 is the banner text. But here is another foundation for us today:
1 How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
2 My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God.
HERE IS THE BURDEN,......ITS A CONVICTION THAT I HAVE - THAT WE HAVE - THAT WE KNOW - THAT ITS GODS PROMISE IF YOU’LL INVEST YOUR LIFE, IF YOU’LL DO WHAT THE BIBLE TALKS ABOUT - PLANT YOURSELF IN HIS HOUSE.... BLESSING WILL COME
FLOURISHIN WILL BE YOUR LIFE
GODS FAITHFULNESS.,… YOUR TESTIMONY

RESEARCH: One in three practicing christians have stopped attending church during covid. there has been a trickle back across the nation: in some areas There is “a new sunday Morning” apparently to the average amervizn christian acording to the BArna group research - now with a mixture of online - in person - Church for alot of people has become someting different and people are coming back - i think our church and our area was immune to all of that
BUT TO SAY I DONT NEED TO COME TO CHURCH TO BE A CHRISTIAN - Is technically correct. you dont.
But WHY WOULD YOU MISS OUT ON THE BEST PART OF ACTUALLY BEING A CHRISTIAN
AND WHY WOULD YOU EVER THINK THAY YOU CAN GO IT ALONE? You cant!
(Trees that are planted - are in the soil - Its hard to move them! but they are strong, growing and a blessing to others)
12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
So as we look at this… study this.. open up our hearts to this - where do we start: in a very simple & uncomplicated place:
as believers in jesus - We know and
understand that....

IF ALL YOU HAVE IS A SEED.,.. THATS ALL GOD NEEDS!
THE WORLD WANTS THE TREE, BUT THE KINGDOM ALWAYS BEGINS WITH A SEED.
Don’t despise the seed.
10 Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
(The seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world.)
Write this down: Everything in the Kingdom begins in seed form.
Jesus told this parable & we will look at this over the next few weeks:

20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

SEEDS HAVE POWER: There is POWER in a seed - Gods supernatural Power at work in something as small as a seed
SEEDS HAVE POTENTIAL: There is POTENTIAL In a seed - there is so much that can be produced from a seed. There is potential for GREAT things to come from something very small. Its the same with yoru life, When you were born, you were very small. But GOD KNOWS - there was amazing potential in you,. even as a SMALL CHILD>
There is also potential for future growth:
the potential to last a LONG TIME: HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE SEED BANKS STARTING TO POP UP AROUND THE WORLD?2
Tree seeds that will be stored safely in a doomsday vault have been deposited on a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean.

a JUDEAN DATE PALM SEED! isnt that interesting....
The oldest viable seed that has grown into a full plant was an 2,000 years old Judean date palm seed, recovered from excavations at Herod the Great's palace on Masada in Israel. SEEDS HAVE PROVISION: There is PROVISION in a seed.
29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.
ALL YOU NEED IS A SEED - AND ALL GOD NEEDS IS A YES.
If you what you have in your hand right now is JUST A SEED. Then thats all God needs
Write this down: a SEED IN GODS HAND IS GREATER THAN FULLY GROWN TREE IN THE WORLD’s HANDS.
why?
because God knows whats in that SEED!
if you have something in your heart thats just in seed form right now can i encourage you - thats ALL YOU NEED
All you need is a SEED.
from a seed the OAKS grow
From a seed the riches of the harvest come
from a seed the blessing of God comes
A SEED… A HUMAN HEART… IN THE HANDS OF AN ALMIGHTLY GOD - THATS MOUNTAIN MOVING STUFF IN THE KINGDOM!
Matthew 17:20 (ESV)
20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
JESUS CHOSE TO USE THE SMALLEST OF ALL SEEDS TO ILLUSTRATE THE GREATEST OF ALL MIRACLES!
Here is what i believe JESUS is saying to us today: ITS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU !!!!
Your just a seed.
But with just a little faith - WHat my Father in HEAVEN can do!!!!!
Nothing is impossible
a seed is ALL YOU NEED!

(im about to turn some of yall into farmers today!!!!).....as Christians, we MUST EMBRACE the SEED life as a Christian. Not the WORLDS LIFE - the BELIEVER is involved in a rythym like no other.
We understand there is a provess to all of this (Oak trees take 20-50 years to become fully grown)
Start with a seed
Start with what you have
get excited about the fact that all you need is a seed.
How much does God need?>
He only needs a seed!
Because this enacts a KINGDOM PRINCIPLE CALLED SOWING & REAPING:
Is 30:23 “23 And he will give rain for the seed with which you sow the ground, and bread, the produce of the ground, which will be rich and plenteous. In that day your livestock will graze in large pastures,”
We are a sowing & reaping people!
This is embracing the seed life! This has always been the way of life for Gods people. We SOW. We do our part - and we trust and believe Gods going to bring about a GREAT HARVEST:
5 Your threshing shall last to the time of the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last to the time for sowing. And you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land securely.
12 For there shall be a sowing of peace. The vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its produce, and the heavens shall give their dew. And I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.
10 He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
Are you willing to trust God with just the seed?
are you demanding HE SHOW YOU the TREE when All that He needs is a SEED & Trust!
The Cedars of Lebanon is a A tree very frequently mentioned in Scripture. It was stately, long-branched, odoriferous, durable, and therefore much used for boards, pillars, and ceilings, for masts, and for carved images.
But it begins with a seed. The imagery and symbolism is POWERFUL!
What are some seeds in our lives?
Think about what can be sown?
Trust in a new endeavour - That can be seed sown in faith
Hard work - Can be a seed sown today
Finances - Can we a seed sown
Humility - God you know better. I dont know it all - -that can be a seed
Commitment - is a seed
Love - is a seed
Planting a church - is a seed. it begins in seed form!
ALL YOU NEED IS A SEED… AND ALL GOD NEEDS IS YOUR TRUST IN HIM WITH THAT SEED
Goal of being planted: Jordans Story.
My parents are moving out of the house my dad built for us almost 30 years ago while my mom is undergoing treatment for her stage 4 cancer, and while he is awaiting another knee replacement (turns out he's allergic to the one they put in a year and a half ago
(2). All that to say, they
needed help this weekend. Today about 100 people showed up for them. Folks drove or flew from at least 4 states. Family and friends from decades past.
This is what happens when you're part of the same local church for the majority of your 65+ years.. when you teach Sunday school to high schoolers while your own kids are little...
when you're always the first to come clean up other people's yards after hurricanes.
when you fix your friends cars/fences/tractors...
when you invite the student ministry over to lay your sod and then offer to help pay for their choir trip... when everyone's invited all the time..
when you open your empty nest to young men in flight school...
when you host the best block parties with the best meat &
when you plant and commit your lives to love, hospitality, service and the Church.
I'm so proud of the life they have lived, and so grateful to be in this family.
And to all the people who came today - THANK YOU!! We are blown away. Thank you for loving and serving and giving of yourselves to support my parents and our whole family.
