Mark 5:21-43; Desperate and Fearful but Faithful

Sermon in a sentence: We can keep our fear or we can put our faith in Jesus.

Desperate People Come To Jesus (vs. 21-28)

Jesus was concerned about these two women who were considered unimportant to the society around them.
Both are women in need of healing
They woman was sick for 12 years after being cared for doctors
They daughter was 12 years old when she died, assuming she was seen by doctors as well.
Jairus and this woman came to Jesus because they were desperate.
Unlike the Gerasenes who asked Jesus to leave their homes, this Jewish leader immediately asks Jesus to come to his home.
Jairus risked his position to save his daughter.
The woman had spent all her money and tried every option. She risked society’s judgement.
We will not come to Jesus until we truly realize our desperation!

Jesus Turned Their Fear To Faith (vs. 29-43)

God often uses faith as his means of blessing.
Jesus conquered their fear by strengthening their faith.
The healing was not because of magic or merely their ability to have faith in their own faith.
Jesus even made the woman publicly step out in faith and tell what he had done for her.
Jesus reassures the father to not fear but have faith. Something even his disciples had failed to do.
Have you put your faith in Jesus Christ?
How has God strengthened your faith in the past?
How are you actively growing in your faith?
