1 How the Holy Spirit affected Samson’s Reign
As some of you may know, Samson is an Old-Testament Type of Christ and there are so many arcs that prophetically relate Samson to Jesus. I will let pastor expound on those in the lesson, but the one aspect I want to focus on is how the holy spirit came and moved through Samson.
seven times the phrase “the spirit of the Lord” Is mentioned in the book of Judges and four times it is mentioned in the chapters that comprise the story of Samson. I want to take the time to go through each of those four occurrences.
1.) Judges 13:24-25
As you can tell in this passage, it was nothing that Samson did to earn the spirit in his life. You could go as far and say it was nothing his parents did either. Unlike Hannah in the story of Samuel it is not recorded that Manoah’s wife cried or sought the Lord to have a child even though she was barren. Isn't that true today for us. you and I did nothing to earn the holy spirit in our lives. If it was not for the death, barrial, and Resurrection of Jesus, we would be in the same state that the people of Israel where in, in the book of Judges.
2.) Judges 14:1-6
This the first it is mentioned in the story, of Samson disobeying His parents, but I am sure that this was not the first time Samson disobeyed his authorities.
