John 8:23-30

Let’s visit again what is going on here. This is during the Feast of Booths/Tabernacles.....John 7:2 “Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.”
During the Feast of Booths. four large lamps in the temple court of women would be lit up and a joyous celebration would be ongoing....people would be dancing, holding torches, and singing songs of praise.
Jesus took the opportunity of the lighting celebration to portray another analogy for the people to understand who He Is......”I am the light of the world.”
Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Malachi 4:2 “But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise With healing in his wings; And ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.”
Basically, the declaration of Himself as Messiah and God!
He who follows Me......this phrase is stronger than just follow, it means.....giving of yourself completely!......There is no room for half-hearted followers in this meaning!
The statement Jesus has made, here, declares that we are from beneath.....which means that of a fallen sinful world.
Above simply means....where God sits or the realm of God!
Below means you are of your father the devil!
James 3:13-18........the contrast between above and below!
James 4:1-10.......
1 John 2:15-17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
