Verse
On that day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they took Him along with them in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”
God’s Word and Promise
God’s Word and Promise
God’s Word and Promise transcends human wisdom
God’s Word and Promise transcends human wisdom
There were a fierce gale of wind and yet God said to move to the other side. It was a megas wind, and finally it became megas calm.
Jesus did not walk in response or as a product of the circumstances, but rather he walked above his circumstance.
If it was something so easy for you to do, God would not have to give a promise to do it.
God’s Word and Promise overcomes
God’s Word and Promise overcomes
The challenge which was seen here was the wind. If there was no promise, they would still be at the shore, not crossing.
The boat which Jesus travelled could be rocked.
But Jesus said, Go, and it is the promise of reaching the other side. It is this promise and faith in this promise that propels us to move to the other side.
God’s Word and Promise brings rest
God’s Word and Promise brings rest
The response of Jesus to a challenge is how a believer should respond to a challenge. Jesus rested in assurance, while the disciples were panicky.
Silence and rest does not mean passivity, and hollering does not mean faith always.
Our Response
Our Response
Steadfast in God’s Word and Promise.
Rest in the promises of God, or act on the promises of God.
Our 5 senses should be rooted to the Word.
Let faith come as a natural response.
Know there is always a MEGAS calm.
