Attributes of the Word
Attributes of the Word
The Word of God is alive
The Word of God is alive
The Word is the face, the countenance, the representation of God, in whom he is brought to light and made known.
Clement of Alexandria; John Owen
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
The Word of God is living and active.
The Word is sharp.
The Word of God is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
The Word of God sees, and everything is laid bare to the Word.
The Word of God is alive
The Word of God is settled
The Word of God is settled
Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled in heaven.
Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;
You established the earth, and it stands.
They stand this day according to Your ordinances,
For all things are Your servants.
The Word is settled.
The word settled is the word natsab in Hebrew which means to be set as a boundary.
This means God’s Word is established. It will never change.
We do not change God’s mind to agree with you, but we must change our mind to agree with God’s, because the Word is settled. Nobody is unsure about God’s Word in heaven. Our goal is to make sure that God’s Word is settled on earth as it is in heaven, Look at Jesus’s prayer in Matt 6:10.
The Word of God accomplishes
The Word of God accomplishes
So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
The Word of God will never return without accomplishing a task.
God is looking for his children to speak the Word.
The Word of God in the flesh (John 1:4) accomplished everything (John 19:28).
The Word of God is enduring and unchanging
The Word of God is enduring and unchanging
Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations;
You established the earth, and it stands.
They stand this day according to Your ordinances,
For all things are Your servants.
The earth was established by the Word of God, which stands even today. If God has said something once, it remains.
Whatever God said in His Word, holds true always. Always God makes sure that He keeps His Word (Psalm 138:2 “I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name.”).
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
If he called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken),
Using this Word
Using this Word
Take the Word, the living Word, and speak it out and it will accomplish what it says. It will accomplish overcoming everything.
While you stand on the Word, know that God will not change what He said in His Word.
