As this book
leads us in the prgorss of our faith in God’s ability
and joy
much of this all has to do with others.
we have seen verses like:
now in our passage today we are going to
see examples of this.
What is lacking that you can fill?
What has God gifted you with
What has God placed on your heart?
And so we get a passage here
that maybe like me at first was wondering
but how did we get here?
from shine as lights
he works in you to will and to do
to Pauls travel plans
well what God had worked in Paul
and had been wroking through Paul
was a care for Christs church
its why he wrote these letters
its why he says what he says
he has a shepherding heart and he wants to see them grow
What things are of Christ?
His church,
His people
His callings
His commission
His commands,
His Spirit
His love
His plans and purposes
the list probably can go on and on
How does this start
First by caring for eachother
we see n verse Paul cares for them
and so does Timothy
in verse we see how deeply Ephraditius cared for them
How about for us?
Do we care for eachother
How deeply do we care for eachother?
but
A question to ask ourselves is do
I care for the things of God?
and What do I care about the most?
what would your family members say is your number one care?
what would your neighbor say
what would co workers say
what would friends say
I know it
because it brought me here to you.
and I see that drive in some of you too
I need to help the hurting
I need to find the lost
and God called me here
because I need your help to do it
WHY IS THIS HERE
shows care for the church
to encourage
shows brotherly love
shows appreciation
shows a mutual looking after each other.
shows their character
show his plans and intentions
that they would rejoice at Epaphradtitus return
to shows Paul’s respect to Ephraditius
Seneding Timothy to you so I can be encouraged
but sending you Ephrsdituts to you now so
that you will be encouraged.
WHAT CAN WE GET OUT OF THIS:
love each other
care for each other
serve the Lord committed and dedicated (to what God is calling for you).
Do your call
Trust God for what we dont know
Seek the things which are of Christ not self
Having a proven charachter
We serve with, and alongside, not above
Being a brother
Being a fellow worker
Being a fellow soldier
Minister to each others needs (not just money)
God can show mercy in times of sickness
Rejoice in our brothers
Be glad and esteem (value) the true servants.
Supply what is lacking in our service.
WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO GET OUT OF THIS?
Look after each other - serve, give, send
