We Need A Nail
We Need A Nail
Isaiah 22:20–23 (KJV 1900)
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, That I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: 21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, And strengthen him with thy girdle, And I will commit thy government into his hand: And he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, And to the house of Judah. 22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; So he shall open, and none shall shut; And he shall shut, and none shall open. 23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; And he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house.
After God rebukes and demotes Shebna the steward under Hezekiah (verses 15-19), He then fills his office with His servant, Eliakim. Eliakim means “whom God will raise up”
God likens the role of a good steward to a securely fastened peg or nail. At the time, houses and other buildings commonly had durable spikes or large pins affixed to the walls during the building process. They were attached in places strong enough to bear the weight of whatever would be hung on them:
The word translated as “secure” (“sure,” KJV) is used to describe something that is well-supported, stable, assured, certain, and trustworthy—a thing in which a person can put his faith.
Genesis 13:1–8 (KJV 1900)
And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai; Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord. And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land. And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
Genesis 13:8–11 (KJV 1900)
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
it is not so much as the people that are in our lives. (it is the people we allow to influence us in our lives.)
there used to be a saying {birds of a feather flock together.} or {you become the company you keep.}
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

What Pops out at me is Lot raised in the home of Abraham spent time with him daily and never built a Alter of his own.
Abraham Mastered two things Building Alters and digging wells.
the Alter kept the Spiritual Man alive.
the well Kept the Natural Man alive.
Lot vs Moses
Lot grew up under the Blessings and Riches of Abraham ( Moses the palace of Pharaoh).
Lot learned of Abrahams wisdom and business skill. but we never read where he partook in his alter building. ( Moses refused to be called an Egyptian and never forgot his Moms Alter).
Lot Vs Issac
Issac learned to build Alters and Dig wells from his Father Abraham
Issac was raised up in the same surroundings as Lot with the same Examples as Lot.
Issac’s Sons
Esau never built and Alter
After Jacob woke from his Vision while running from Esau the first thing he done was erect an Pillar. (aka Alter)
Daniel the Hebrew Boys
The Hebrew Boys had a Nail in Daniel they survived the trial by fire because of the influence of Daniel
Daniel Had an Alter
Elisha had a Nail in Elijah
Psalm1:1 “Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
Psalm1:1 “Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
Walking Standing or sitting it matters who your company is.
Questions to ask Yourself.
You must constantly ask yourself these questions:
Who am I around?
What are they doing to me?
What have they got me reading?
What have they got me saying?
Where do they have me going?
What do they have me thinking?
And most important, what do they have me becoming?
Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay?
Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.
