1 Kings 18: After a long time, in the third year, the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.”2 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab.

Background

The Important Characters. Ahab and Jezebel are the King and Queen of the Northern Province of Israel. Elijah the Prophet that God’s sends to challenge what Ahab and Jezebel have going on. Obadiah the servant of Ahad as the man who is running everything. A nameless servant of Elijah who you will see later in the text.

You are seen as the trouble maker because you choose to follow God.

What Does It Mean To Actually Have Range

Im not afriad to go I’m afid of what might happen if I don’t go.

God and tell the man that has me on his hit list that I am here to see him.

Are There Any Prophets Left

22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.

Can we just pause for a second to acknowledge the kind of boldness and authority Elijah had to be able to go stand in the face of Ahab and 450 of Baal prophets and declare “ I AM THE ONLY PROPHET OF GOD LEFT”.

Elijah did not come in his own name and he did not come alone.

Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. “Baal, answer us!” they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.

27 At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” 28 So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. 29 Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.

Range Gives Me Prophetic Insight

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

The difference between Elijah and the weather man is meteorologists use all different types of technology and instruments to help draw or make an analysis on the weather.

a. Anemometer - An instrument which measures wind speed.

b. Wind Vanes- An instrument indicates the direction the wind is blowing.

c. Barometer- An instrument that shows the changes in pressure can indicate oncoming storms

However, weather predictions can be fairly accurate.

But because Elijah has range he has prophetic insight. So he doesn’t need the instruments. Why? because he is the instrument. What happens when you are the bridge between heaven and earth.

That’ why I don’t want you to become reliant on things and people that you only have a 50/50 chance on, but when you have prophetic insight you have insight beyond the moment. You have assurance on what is going to happen.

It’s not always about talking prophets its about listening. The prophets we got today are always talking, but if you really want to be powerful its not about what you say its about what you heard. (Bishop TD Jakes)
