Proverbs 28:20 (NKJV) — 20 A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.
The deep tension between faithfulness to God and alienation from one’s own people is an unvarying constant in the ministry of faithful preachers assigned to a declining culture.
God’s response (Jeremiah 15:19–21) is that if Jeremiah proves utterly faithful in conveying his words, he will continue as God’s spokesman and will be preserved from the evil machinations of his opponents. But one point is nonnegotiable: “Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them” (Jeremiah 15:19b).
Being faithful and consistent pays great dividends
John 8:31 “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,”
John 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.”
Acts 1:14 “All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.”
Acts 2:42 “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
Acts 13:43 “And after the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who, as they spoke with them, urged them to continue in the grace of God.”
Acts 14:22 “strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”
Acts 15:35 “But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.”
Rom 11:22 “Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.”
Col 4:2 “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”
1 Timothy 2:15 “Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.”
2 tim 3:14 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it”
Hebrews 13:1 “Let brotherly love continue.”
James 1:25 “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”
Notice how important consistency is
Life’s blessings drench the honest and faithful person, but punishment rains down upon the greedy and dishonest. Proverbs 28:20( TPT)
