Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore - what did you talk about ?
we have - perfect tense.
justified - how awesome is justification
by faith - not becaues we earned it. We couldn’t
peace - shalom. do you have a peaceful relationship.
through Jesus - only because of what Jesus did.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
him- Jesus
we have also obtained acess…into grace - we have laid hold of it.

hope - confident expectation.
glory - worth of God.
20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
rejoice - who -hoo?
in sufferings. Trails.
Why?
Suffering produces endurance - I hate running. I like cheeseburgers.
Putting your body though hardships is the only way to produce endurance.
Story of running in straight line to double my distance.
You might say, I don’t need spiritual endurance?
4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
endurance - being able to stay faithful in hardship produces charachter.
Builds charachter. - to be tested. Godo character. He is a character. It means they are proven. Taking a car on a test drive.
hope - circile back to verse 2. You can’t have hope without charaahter. You can’t have character withouth endurance, and you can’t hvae endurance without suffering.
So why do rejoice in suffering, it produses hope. Hope .
5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
shame - exposed. Hope feels lke we are opending outselves up to hurt. But it isnt’t becaues hopeing in God is always true
