THE POWER OF PRAYER- UNITED PRAYER IS POWERFUL PRAYER.
Introduction.
Good morning family,trust you are well, if you are visiting us. We are in a series called the power of prayer and today we are looking at UNITED PRAYER IS POWERFUL PRAYER.
My first corporate prayer meeting was very scary for me, i stood in a building, we were in a circle and I had no idea what todo.i was so scared.
The Elder leading side prayed so and so, my heart was beating, I was sweating because i felt like today was the day i am going to pray out loud.
And i prayed, and i was terrified, have no idea why but it was wonderful i sense God's presence, on me around me. And I felt bold at the end, I saw the Lord answer the prayer.
Maybe you  like me? Let's look and explore this subject, maybe you have set the following prayer meetings.
Once a week as a family
Once a week at work as a team.
You lead a small group and you need to pray together.
We come on Wednesday night and we lead or we are a part of a prayer meeting.
Where does cooperative prayer MEETINGS  come from ?
Acts 4:23–32 (NIV)
23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them.
24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.
25You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: “ ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
26The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’
27Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.
28They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen.
29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.
1) GOD IS SOVEREIGN.
Acts 4:24–25 (NIV)
24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.
25You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: “ ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
These believers heard of an issue and they came together and then they prayed together.
Now they started the prayer to God as you are Sovereign.
In the simplest terms , sovereign means.
Supreme reign…
Jesus is the King and he has a Kingdom.
Daniel 7:13–14 (NIV)
13“In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.
14He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
The Kingdom of God:
God's people,
In God's place
Under God's word.
We become a citizen of this Kingdom, when we get saved and become a child of God.
The King is Jesus,the King exercises His authority through the Holy Spirit with us and His word and our prayers and confessions.
We come and we take a scripture that the Holy Spirit leads us to and we start to stand in that and pray it through it will manifest in the natural.
Psalm 119:89 (NIV)
89 Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
We need to agree with the word of God , believe it, stand on it, pray it through and confess it.
POINT 2  COOPERATE  PRAYER IS POWERFUL PRAYER.
Acts 4:18–22 (NIV)
18Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!
20As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
21After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.
22For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.
Acts 4:24 (NIV)
24When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.
Corporate prayer ( meaning coming together to prayer)
Is this, we wait on God and we pick up on what God wants us to pray into and we pray into it.
God is telling us what He wants to do and all we do is pray into that and do what He says.
Sometimes he will call us to pray through something that will take years on end,
Other times it is quick ..

POINT 3 GOD WORKS THROUGH THE PRAYING PEOPLE.
Acts 4:31 (NIV)
31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
God answered the very prayer request that  they prayed into.
The word of God says they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
When we pray the will of God into being , God will answer the prayers.
Ephesians 3:20–21 (NIV)
20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
When we pray , God releases His spirit on/in  us and we begin to see His power flow through us.
God works in and through us.
IN CLOSING.
If you are a part of a corporate prayer meeting, will you seek to protect it, grow it and believe this is what God wants us to do…….together.
If not seek the Lord for wisdom, courage and guidance how to build a prayer life …
