When I first met Jerry.
Peggy told me he was in the hosp.
Covid. Church in FB
Then Jerry and Janet started coming to church. very faithful
Elab of Jerry’s encouragement. Sweet spirit.
On his way out “love you brother”
He had been out of church or some time, but I am so thankful that the last part his life he came here, worshiped the Lord. And I was honored to be his pastor.
On Sunday a week ago he was in Church. Two days later, he went to be with Jesus.
What happened on Tuesday did not take God by surprise.
Elab on is surgery being postponed.
If that would not have happened, the results would have been the same. No family vacation.
Preaching a funeral service, celebration of life I have a few places in the bible I like to use. One of them is in Mark.
It a hopefully an encouragement to the family.
Mark 4:35–41 NKJV
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” 39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
TV Preacher will tell you if you just believe in Jesus and have faith, everything will be ok.
Life is not fair, life is not easy. We are never told by God in his word that life is easy.
There difficulties, trails, tragedies.
But, we have a loving God that will get you through anything that you are going through.
Psalm 121:1–2 NKJV
1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Mark 4:35 NKJV
35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”
Elab what had been going on.
Key is “other side”
He didn’t say it would be easy.
That is the way it is in life.
Mark 4:36–37 NKJV
36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
The storms in life come fast.
The storm came on fast.
Jerry was having surgery, that turned into open heart surgery.
The thought was, he’ll have spend more time in the hospital and rehab.
But then the Dr says, he want make it. That’s a storm.
You will never get over it, but God will get you through it.
The disciples in the boat at this time felt overwhelmed.
That is how we feel during difficult, trying times.
Mark 4:38 NKJV
38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Look at last part of verse. Don’t you care? Sometimes we may feel that way.
He does care, He wants us to call on Him.
Family, you can’t get through this on your own.
Philippians 4:13 NKJV
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Mark 4:39 NKJV
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.
Elab on this story.
When you loss a loved one (Jerry) its a sad day. But, knowing that they are with Jesus. That gives us a peace.
Mark 4:40 NKJV
40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”
Elab on this verse.
All Christians have faith. You just have to use it.
You can have faith in knowing that Jerry is in heaven.
You can have faith in knowing God will get you through this.
If you are not a Christian, you can have faith,
Mark 4:41 NKJV
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Mark 5:1 NKJV
1 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.
It was not an easy time for them, but they made it to the otherside.
Family, its hasn’t been easy.
But God will get you through it.
Are you sure you will be in heaven one day?
Revelation 21:4 NKJV
4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
