Introduction:

Good morning New Life, can everyone hear me okay? Well, another day in the house of The Lord and there is no place we’d rather be ain’t that right?
With that being said we come to a subject sermon that God has been putting on my heart. You guys know that we have been doing a sermon series through the book on 1 John, so we are continuing on with that today! When I’m not working, studying or out with friends one of my favorite past times is watching TV with my dad. More specifically me and my dad love watching anything Marvel and Star Wars, we really enjoy those new Disney plus shows that come out. Thinking back on this reminds me of how we are also going through a series on the book 1 John, and watching those TV shows directly relates to our passage today.
As I’m sure many of you have your own favorite TV show’s and broadcast to to watch. Wether it be the news channel, HBO, or if you’re elder Grant you turn on the radio..... that was a joke. But in all seriousness I say all that because I believe many of us listen and hear a lot of different thing’s throughout the week. From the shows we watch, the music we listen to and even down to the conversations we have at work, and its hard to determine whats real and whats fake. It’s not so different from what John’s audience was dealing with when John wrote this letter. To be more exact John was confronting false teachers who were claiming thing’s about Jesus that were not true (according to verses 1-7). These people who John labels as the spirit of the antichrist were leading those who were genuine in following Christ to doubt wether or not they were in right standing with God, and it even caused them to doubt God’s love for them. And we know that where ever falsehood there is always cause for alarm. And that very well may even be some of us this morning. wondering and wrestling with the fact of Gods love. The believers John was writing too were shaken up wondering wether or not Gods loves them. yet John writes to his audience to reassure their hearts before the truth. This is essential to us today because God’s John writes to us to reassure our hearts concerning God’s love for us.
which is why we are grateful that God has provided us a way to hear the truth every Sunday. These truths help carry us throughout the week as well. So think back on what you’ve heard this past week and what you have seen and what you have put in your ears. So many false news reports, worldly wisdom, and perhaps false things that make us doubt God’s love for us. Jesus himself. So as the illustrious Stephen Love would say “You’ve heard a lot of things New Life, but hear the truth of The Lord this morning”. And todays message leads us to several observations this morning.
