The Cross Road

As a junior higher you are building your foundation for your adult lives. I’ve said before, you guys are at a bit of a crossroads in life.
Last week, we ended with the Apostle Paul advising us to, “Carefully determine what please the Lord”.
One path is pleasing to God and the other path is unpleasing. One path is considered to be the wise man and the path is considered the foolish man
(V15) Be carful how you live
A) Don’t live like a fool
a.1) The fool lives for today, not giving eternity any thought
They enjoy the world and everything it has to offer
1 John 2:15–17 NLT
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
Sodom and Gomorrah:
I’m reminded of Sodom and Gomorrah when it was about to be destroyed. Lot was rescued but his wife was destroyed as she looked back and longed for
The fool is controlled by their sinful desires; greed, bad language, sexual immorality, drunkeness
The fool doesn’t understand their days are short and doesn’t make the most out the opportunities
b.1) The fool says their is no God:
Psalm 14:1 “Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good!”
Says it again in Psalm 53:1
The fool doesn’t think about their actions they live to please themselves
1.1 (V17) Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do
A) The wise man carefully determines what pleases the Lord and does it
How you Choose to live:
He Lives a life that is obedient to the scriptures
He Walks in the Sprit
Fruit of the Spirit: Gal 5:22-23 “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
The wise man is thankful to God (V20)
He is filled with joy, as he sings praises to God (V19)
B) What is the Lord’s will for your life?
God has a plan and purpose for your life.
He’s given you talents and abilities
EPH 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
