Discipleship Defined:
The process of training people incrementally in some discipline or way of life.
The process of devoting oneself to a teacher to learn from and become more like them.
For the Christian, this refers to the process of learning the teachings of Jesus and following after his example in obedience through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Discipleship not only involves the process of becoming a disciple but of making other disciples through teaching and evangelism.
Matthew 4:18-19 = An occupational shift
Matthew 8:11 = Excuses Removed
Matthew 9:9 = Background Irrelevant
Matthew 16:24 = Denial to self
Matthew 19:21 = Position above possessions
John 1:43-45 = Follow to find followers
John 12:26 = Following the Lord is connected to service to the Lord
John 21:22 = Follower should be focused on his or her own path not the path of a different follower.
