How the Lord Speaks Pt. 1

What We Always Seem to Talk About

Ps. 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.”

We always seem to talk about sin, temptation, how to overcome certain things

We also talk about the stuggles in our lives.

But one struggle that seems to get looked over and talked about is how to hear the voice of the Lord.

So that leaves us with a couple of questions:

Why do we struggle to hear the voice of God?

Have people always struggled to hear His Voice

Have people always battled distractions?

-The answer is Yes and No-

Yes /No

-We have a sin nature /When you start to hear it you crave it

-we have an enemy /We start to walk in the spirit

-we will struggle until we are glorified /once you learn how God speaks it starts to become second nature 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

/the more you hear God the more you Want to hear God

The Word is A:

Lamp

Hb. word is “nir” like a candle

Its purpose

-to hold in front of you in order to light up your immediate vicinity

-it’s there to help you in the small details in your life

*Do you seek the Lord about EVERYTHING? Even the small details?*

*God may not speak to you about everything, but he is can speak to you about ANYTHING.*

We can see this in the life of King David

-2 Samuel 5:23-24 “And when David inquired of the Lord, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees. And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the Lord go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.”

-This is something David had done many times yet he still inquired of the Lord

-He used the Lord as a Lamp

-When reading understand that God wants to be in everything! even the small details!

Light

Hb. word is “owr” Light that comes from the sun

Biblically itsa picture of Right and Wrong

-Darkness and Light

-it can show you whats right in your life and whats wrong in your life

Romans 7:7 “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.”

Thats why the American mindset is struggling to define right and wrong

-They have taken the Bible and Prayer out of Schools

-All the absolutes in life have gone out the window

Not only does it show us right from wrong but it shows us Christ

-Tyler Gaulden once said “It has came to show you Christ and how you can Know God the Creator through His Son, the incarnate word. And you can only know the incarnate word through the inspired word”

-IF YOU WANT TO KNOW GOD YOU’VE GOT TO READ THE BIBLE

How We Apply the Candle and Light

So the Word of God is a candle and a sun

-a small light for close examination and a broad light for wide exposure

+A Flashlight

-The way a flashlight works to expose things is exactly how God will use His Word to expose things!
