First John Chapter 5: 13:17 Confidence in Jesus Christ.
John like in his gospel 20:31-31 PPT 1 that they may believe. And PPT 2. That they may know… To assure the believers.
State why he is writing: That they may not sin, chapter 2:1 – and if they do they have an avocat Jesus, at the fathers side. John really what people to understand who Jesus is. And he wants to encourage the people that believe in the son of God, Jesus as Christ, that they have eternal life -because they believe in the son of God, Jesus Christ/Messiha.
What Joy and reassurances that John wants to give the believers, that because of God, and how he bore witness about who Jesus is. And by Jesus’ life, death, - we can be set free from sin, and obtained eternal life in Christ. Not because we earned it by good religious works, or are great people but because God loved us and made it possible for us to come to him, adopted in to Gods family, for eternal life now. [Quality also, not only duration.] What encourages you about having eternal life? – No, death, restored body, in Gods hands now, reconciled to God… Justified in Christ. No fear of death, - joy beyond the grave. New life now in Christ, a new creation, a new purpose, always exiting, what God has for us, to walk in. Having the witness and power of Christ in us to be able to life for God, now and forever.
John is also clear that this is only for the ones that believe in the name of the son of God. There is no eternal life for people that do not believe in Jesus Christ. – Gospel.
Or you don’t trust in Jesus as God has witnessed about, - you don’t have life, not real life, only a shell and shadow, - not eternal life with Jesus. – Only judgment and condemnation, - don’t go that way run to Jesus instead.
Having confidence in Jesus Christ, John writes: will lead us to trust Him in prayer.
Praying for one self:
About prayer and trust in Jesus, - Jesus hears us when we pray according to his will,
Therefore we can know that we have what we need when we ask in his will.
Amazing, - when we pray, for what God wants it will be granted we get it. And we can trust in that.
Do I really know that – do we pray like that? Does that give us joy, to know we can pray like that? Or are we more concerned about now we pray? Or don’t think we should pray, because we are not able to come to God, in our own strength, and that is true, but we don’t come in our own strength, but by Jesus’ life, death, - his work. He made a way, and we now have access to pray for all we need.
Why pray if he only listens when we get it right? I mean, if we get all we ask for in his will, we will know when we prayed Gods will, - yes, but pray is also a way for us to tell God how we are doing and pray can also shape us, to know what to pray for our self and others.
Johns qualification also destroys all prosperity and genie theology – you don’t get whatever you what, - if you just have enough faith, - no, if it is Gods will, then it will come to pass, - (What can stop prayer, men not loving there wife’s well, unrepented sin, false teaching, not searching/studying the word - selfish prayers that will hurt us, God is then not listening for our good and with holding, answer to draw us to Jesus to know his will ) Many prayers form my young days were not given and that was a blessing.
Jesus hears us and we can know that, Then because of the encouragement that God grants what we pray for in his will, John addresses that we should pray for others believers that go astray and sin, that God would grant them life, because praying for others to have life and not be overcome by sin seems to be according to Gods will. What about you, me do we do this, out of the overflow of knowing eternal life and that Jesus hears our prayer? (But in practice do we do it are we so changed by Jesus that we go to prayer first? – or man that is so dumb, He should have never done that sin, this will be bad… John is asking people to pray intercessory to ask God for mercy and grant the people life and not death…
- others that lead to death, a another way?
All wrong is sin, but some sin does not lead to death, the sin that is cleaned of by Jesus…
PPT – what is the sin that leads to death, and can’t we pray for people? We can and some would say we should, but John dose write it as a must/command, - that does not in this case flow from what John is writing.
Verse 17 gives a waning and hope, and speaks again about the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Bad news all of sin is wrong, there is no sin that is okay, and we need the very blood of Jesus to cleans us from sin, and that is why not all sin leads to death. – But sin and rebellion against God will lead to death. If there is no trust in Jesus Christ.
Also PPT - The sin that leads to death, is the spirt of the antichrist, and what the Pharesss said about Jesus that the spirt in him was the spirt of the devil. A life lived like that leads to death, because it denies Jesus as the Christ, and calls God a lair, So pray for one another, but you don’t have to pray for the devil’s workers, they will and can’t repent, the ones that are devils and antichrist’s.
Next time people sin should stop at some point, because God is in us.. But the one that leads to death God is not in them. – If we say that Jesus is a demon… then we are not filled with the Holy Spirt.
