Chapter 2 of Colossians was mostly about what to avoid. As Christians there are some things we should avoid i.e false prophets/teachers, sin, etc.
We should avoid sin, not because of the law, but because Christ has changed our desires. We are no longer seeking after mans approval, but everything we are doing is for the purpose of pleasing the father.
The good thing about the gospel in our life is that we are dead with Christ, we are buried with Christ, and praise the Lord we are risen with Christ.
Because we are risen with Christ, Paul has challenged the church at Colosse to seek those things that are above, set your affections on things above, and to hide in Christ.
Seek those things which are above vs. 1
Paul starts off this thought by addressing a specific group of people.
if ye then be risen with Christ
he is specifically speaking to Christians
to be risen with Christ, you must first of had to die with Christ.
