Baptism

Baptism is symbolic.

Death - Going down into the water.

Atonement for sin - “Baptized into His death” (Romans 6:3)

Burial - Down under the water or submerged.

Burial of the old sin nature - “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death.” (Romans 6:4a)

Resurrection - Coming out of the water.

New Life Now/Eternal Life Later - “In order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4b)

Spiritual Cleansing – Picture of washing

Forgiveness - “Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name”

New Birth - Picture of rebirth.

New Birth - “You must be born again”

New Nature - Water is a symbol of birth/spiritual regeneration - “He saved us…by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit”

When a person is baptized, it is their testimony/witness/declaration that these things are true of them. That they have put their trust/faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

We will start with all giving their testimony of their commitment to follow Jesus. We will start with Suzanna.
