Tonight we are going to look at the second word i out motto. LOVE - RESPONSIBILITY - HONESTY
I know how you people like to go to the dictionary and ask the meaning of a word, So I will do the same.
------answerable or accountable
------having the power to control or manage
and here are some words that are SYNONYMS ---in authority, in control
You have a responsibility...
To yourself
To your family (now and later)
To authorities (seniors)
To God.
But Mom and I have the same responsibilities...
To yourself
To your family (now and later)
To authorities (seniors)
To God.
---add--- as the Directors...to the Board of Directors of A Place of Hope and the people who give. (180,000,000)
Everyone has responsibilities in life., they will just change and the process of your life changes…but some will remain.
So where do we look to understand how we should understand the responsibility we have. Because ir isn’t that Dad made up the idea of responsability… God did. God created man and woman i HIS image. He gave us a mind, a decision process where we should know right and wrong. We are’t just another animal he created…we are his special created…different from anything else he created.

26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27  So God created man in his own image,

in the image of God he created him;

male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Did you see what God did here? He gave Adam responsibility. Responsibility overing naming every creature. God made it, ad he had Adam manage it. That is what taking sresponsability is all about. Taking care of, looking out for, overseeing the thigs that you have been charged to do.
There is another version of the Bible…it’s a paraphrase and this is how it records what God said...

He created them male and female.

God blessed them:

“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!

Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,

for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

Responsability was given to man from the very beginning.
But something happened…when sin came into the world…Adam and Eve did not want to be responsible for their own actions.
English Standard Version (Chapter 3)
11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
What did God tell them not to do? Eat the fruit. It was their responsability to obey God, and they didn’t. And there was consequences. Consequences that we still feel today because of sin.
So there are two areas I want us to see where we have responsibility. It may be two areas, but because most of us identify as a believer of Jesus Christ, the two actually are joined together.
The two areas are this.
1. The responsibility you have as a child of God
2. The responsibility you have as a member of the family of A Place of Hope.
Let’s look at some verses..
James 4:17 ESV
17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Luke 16:10 “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”

10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

Romans 14:12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Scripture gives us a idea how we should carry ourselves. Adam was given responsability, and as a created man or woman of God, you will always have responsability. Today, it might be the responsability of taking care of your room. In a few years it might be caring for a child or being a good husband or wife, showing up for class, working hard at a job to provide for your family… whatever the case you will always have responsability.
Now as a child, young man, or young woman here at A Place of Hope, you still have responsability.
Why? Do we want you to make sure that the things around here are taken care of? Yes. But also, what we teach you hear, you will use out there.
Solomon wrote… Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2016), Pr 22:6.
Now that verse is talking about training in the Word, but if you think about, the concept can be used for what we wat to do here…training you in the Word AND in preparing you to go out and be a responsability member of society.
****Today****
Kids in the gate that should not have been.
Clothes everywhere on the ground
Trash everywhere.
Girls, things on the passage at the end of the railing.
Small girls room, and Charles room was not tidy. (Bed bugs thrive)
I wasn’t in the boys room, so I don’t know.
Is this how you own house will look one day? Is this how you want your own children to live?
It starts with responsibility. Doing the right thing when it’s comes.
Years ago a taught a devotion about doing the right thing. Ad I said that there is a small moment when you see something that is not right. Ad in that moment you will make a choice whether you will do the right thing (be responsible) or turn away ad do nothing.
At that moment when you see someone inside the gate that should not be there, and you say or do nothing. That is a sin. It’s a sin. When you know what is right and you don’t do it....sin.
Again James 4:17
James 4:17 ESV
17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
You need to be responsible, ad when you are not responsible here at A Place of Hope, you will have consequences, be punished. When you leave this place one day, and don ‘t do the things you need to do for your family, you will also have to deal with the consequences.
But we want you to lear now, we want to train you now. I don’t like to punish. I do’t like to get angry when I see some of you people who just don’t care. It hurts my heart, because I’m thinking, have I done something wrong? Am I not preparing them wisely.
But then I think. Well, We have told them over and over.....
Starting tomorrow, and through Sunday (maybe more) there will be an inspection at 9am, 1pm, and 6pm. You need to be at your bed. No exceptions. If you are not, you are not showing responsibility and you will have consequences.
It is our responsability to raise you, and train you up. God brought us here for that reason. You might not like some of the rules or some of the circumstances, but that’s ok., tell it to God. Until the time he removes us from this place we will continue to train you up.
