Recap:
One sin at a time.
Build endurance one step at a time.
Hebrews 12:1-3
1 Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us,
2 keeping our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself, so that you won’t grow weary and give up.
They say this mountain can't be moved
They say these chains will never break
But they don't know You like we do
There is power in Your name
We've heard that there is no way through
We've heard the tide will never change
They haven't seen what You can do
There is power in Your name
So much power in Your name
Move the immovable
Break the unbreakable
God we believe
God we believe for it
From the impossible
We'll see a miracle
God we believe
God we believe for it
Jesus is why we believe for it.
Jesus is why we believe for it.
1. Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
1. Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
“Looking away from everything which may distract.”
Hebrews 1:2-3
2 In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son. God has appointed him heir of all things and made the universe, through him.
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Looking away from the world unto God in everything small and great.
“Pioneer and Perfecter”
Christ is the leader and perfecter of faith.
He alone accomplished salvation.
He is distinguished from all the people listed in Heb 11 from the Old Testament.
Kerri Strug - “Look at me!”
Our faith will remain strong when are eyes are on Jesus.
Our faith will remain strong when are eyes are on Jesus.
2. Jesus traded His glory for our shame.
2. Jesus traded His glory for our shame.
Jesus was with God in the beginning.
Full joy in His incarnate life and the glory of God.
Jesus accepted the cross.
Philippians 2:5-8
5 Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus,6 who, existing in the form of God,did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited.
7 Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man,
8 he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death—even to death on a cross.
Jesus was raised to the right hand of god.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Counseling (You carry too much shame.)
Christ deflected our shame away. He took shame from our life.
We gained sin. Christ gained victory over our sin.
We gained sin. Christ gained victory over our sin.
3. Consider What Christ Can Do.
3. Consider What Christ Can Do.
“Consider him”
Look unto Jesus, for a comparison with him will show you how much more he had to endure than you have.
You can begin to understand how to deal with hardship.
“If we externalize all that is wrong with the world, we will believe the solution is inside of us. Try harder. Work smarter. Be better. Do the work. Pick yourself up by your bootstraps. But when we realize the problem is in us-all of us-we realize the solution must be outside of us. We need someone to come and save us. When we personalize sin, we realize we no longer need to hide behind the trees but to embrace the Man who hung on the cursed tree in our place.” - Jen Wilkin

If we asked the Hall of Fame, they would answer Jesus.
