Prelude
Welcoming - Pastor Brenden Bridges
Good Morning we have gathered together to Celebrate the life of our loved one and friend Clinton Rose.
The reason we celebrate life at a memorial service … Is because of the great promises that we have been given in scripture…. of the Blessed Hope…
Jesus said
in John 11.25 that he is the resurrection and the life.. and Whoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life”.
The apostle Paul said in Rom 8.11
If the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in us . He will also give life to our bodies through the spirit that dwells in us..”
This is the great hope this that we hold onto..
Another reason we celebrate is to
express our joy appreciation of our loved ones … we celebrate the legacy that we have received…
Clinton possessed a strong faith… From a young age he received Christ as his savior and He walked steadfastly with the Lord throughout his life.
Clinton was a great example and a great leader .
He was a leader in his family……He was a leader our community and served on various boards —He served as an overseer here in our congregation ..
Clinton was the kind of leader … that led by example..
One of the stories I love ... is that Clinton often volunteerEd to help Marylyn in the nursery and he took every opportunity to hold a baby.
He had tender heart..
— as I thought about Clinton’s life …a verse came to mind.. from the book of Philippians..
At this time the early church were facing difficulties and some were ready to quit…and the.. Apostle Paul wrote..to encourage them to follow the example of Jesus…
In Chapter 2…Paul talks about the humilTy of Christ.
And said that we should have the same mind or attitude that was in Christ Jesus who humbled himself and took on human form..
Paul says to imitate Jesus…follow that example… He encourages them to do so with joy.. and there is this short verse tucked into a passage in PhilippIan’s 4 .
Paul says ..
Philippians 4:5 (NKJV)
5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Paul said let your gentleness Be known!!..
Gentleness is strong attribute in scriptures it is the picture of power under restraint…
it means..
to be Gracious..
Unselfish.
kind
having a Forbearing spirit
Big Heartedness
Consideration of others
Not insisting on ones rights..
Not ridged -
Not being contentious nor self-seeking....
Having Good sense…
Clinton..let us know of his Faith, humility and gentleness…
Thomas Brooks said
Example is the most powerful rhetoric.
Thomas Brooks
It’s More powerful than any sermon We could ever hear..
Paul said let this be evident in you life… why ..because the end is near..and time is short.. r
We are reminded this morning of the great hope and great legacy that we have received....
we are now have the.

Closing..
This morning as we close we are reminded of the blessed hope!!
The early Christians lived constantly with this expectation..that Christ would return..
… Many of them had lost loved ones and many were fearful that they had missed Christs second coming… …
Pauls tells us
1 Thessalonians 4:13–14 (ESV)
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
Paul assures the church that Christ was coming a second time...
and they were to take comfort in the hope that comes with Christ...
He says… don’t grieve like those who have no hope.. but rather have the confidence in the hope of Resurrection..
That those who are asleep… will awakened refreshed and renewed.. into Eternal life.. ...
Paul wrote these words for our comfort..
that one day will we be reunited with our loved ones…forever.. Amen and amen
Prayer…
Father thank your for this opportunity to Celebrate our loved one Clinton and I Pray that as we leave today… we will be encouraged… we will be more determined to live a life that counts for you and for eternity… thank you for you the Hope that we can have in this life… that you are with us now and forever Amen.. Amen..
CLOSING REMARKS
