I came to get my Blessings

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners,Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season;His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

To begin with brothers and sisters While reading and meditating the word of God I fell into a deep sleep and the Good Lord drop this lesson deep down in my spirit man.

I came Here To Get My Blessings. 3x.

What is the word Blessing? Blessing is another word for happiness, and this Psalm could be characterized as the Happiness of man as it relates to his relationship with God.

I come to Get My Blessing

And There isn’t another place on earth that you can go like the Church to get your blessing. Blessing are in this church, Hallelujah. You ought to be able to say I said I wasn’t going to tell nobody but I just couldn’t keep it to myself. Because when I think about the goodness of the Lord and all that He’s done for me my souls cries out and say thank you Jesus. I’m Blessed Better than Blessed praise the Lord. Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless his holy name .

I came to get my blessing 2x.

I will bless the Lord at all times and his praises shall continually be in my mouth. For the Lord, He is good, real good each and everyday of my life I’ll bless the Lord..Yea

The text says Blessed is the man. The bible speaks in the masculine gender but The word of God is for everybody.

The word Blessed means to hallow the name of the Lord such as Hallow be thy name. Bless means to consecrate by religious rite , by giving Divine care, by speaking well of someone, by wishing someone else good health and strength, Blessed means to Glorify, and Honor God. Blessed means to approve and confer, prosperity or happiness upon someone. Blessed means to Protect and Preserve and endow with Godly Favor, and Blessed means to venerate and hold in the highest reverence.

The meaning is broad in spectrum but narrow in scope because the text say Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly. Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Let’s break it down The text says blesseth is The righteous man, but first the man is described negatively. Here’s what the word is talking about. The three tetrameters suggest a gradually progression and becoming more intense, reaching a climax in the last line: who doth not walk, who do not stand, and who do not sit, in the seat of the scornful or the wicked.

If somebody put you with the scornful, with the wicked people, you know you in bad shape. I’ve got an important question. Do you want to stay blessed? Well quit walking around with wicked folk. Quit standing around with sinister people. and Quit sitting around listening to unholy people. Just cause it’s uncle bo bo doesn’t mean uncle bo bo is right all the time.

I’m Blessed 3x I’m too Blessed to be stressed

Moses talked about being Blessed too . In Deuteronomy 28:1-14 The word of God says And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. 5 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. 6 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. 7 The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. 8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

9 The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. 10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. 11 And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12 The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. 13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: 14 And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Brothers and sisters, I counted at least 40 Blessings, That’s a lot of Blessings.

There are many Blessings in the word of God. For instance Jesus Blessed us in Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. I counted at least 10 Blessing in this text.

Tell your neighbor: Rejoice and be super glad because you are Blessed

Then the theme text says in Psalms 1: 2  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; And in his law doth he meditate day and night. You’ve got delight in the word of God, delight In the Law of Yahweh, and and and We’ve got to embrace the entire legislation that’s compacted in the first 5 books of the law called Pentateuch and it’s the sacred solid sound doctrine of the word of God.

The Psalmist says his delight, and his good pleasure is in the word of God. The righteous man dedicated himself to the word. The text says He studies day and night. He reads the word of God over and over again Until he’s no longer reading the word of God but the word of God is reading him.....

Let’s see how many things ya’ll remember about God’s Word.

God made man from the dust of the ground breathed into his nostril and man became a.......

God’s word is a lamp unto my feet and a ......

I will lift mine eyes towards the hills from whence cometh my help My help comes from.....

The steps of a good man are......

The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear the Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall.......

The Lord is my Shepherd and I.......

But my God shall supply all your needs according to........

This Joy I have the world didn’t give it to me and the world ............ yeah yeah yeah.

Lastly Joshua 1:8 says This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The bible says if we want good success then We’ve got to delight in the word of God day and night

Then the text says in verse 3   And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, That bringeth forth his fruit in his season; His leaf also shall not wither; And whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The verse analogy suggest that the An-tis -trophe (Antistrophe) denotes that the recipient “ Meaning Saints of God, are like trees transplanted beside channels of water, and these trees yields his fruit in his season, and Whose leaves will not wither, So all that he doeth, he carries out successfully, Because He is Blessed!!!

I’m blessed because the metaphor of the tree implies that “The happiness of the righteous man/woman is illustrated like this: God removes the tree from its native soil and then transplants the tree to the most favoured soil, the most a fertile soil in the garden. Then God makes sure that the tree get the best water supply and is irrigated by many channels of water.

And as I looked this up research suggest that this tree planted by the rivers of water is like a tree planted in paradise!! Like the Garden of Eden, And this tree produces fruit every month . Yes indeed. Teach me pastor.

And God said you’re blessed because as a righteous man/woman your life will be full vigour, vitality, and veracity from the study of God’s word. God makes everything that he/she does successful and prosperous.

Tell your neighbor: I’m Blessed

Then there is the contrast between the wicked man and the righteous man. Look at verse 4. The ungodly are not so: But are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. This is the Tetrameter or the fourth verse and it tells us that it’s a direct shift from blessing to curses.

1. First of all the text says in verse 4 that the wicked is like the chaff on the threshing floor. The threshing floors, in Palestine, was usually on flat, open place on hilltops, so that when the ears of grain are thrown up, the heavy grain falls to the ground, while the wind drives away the light chaff. The ungodly are like the the chaff that God makes sure that the wind drives them away!

I don’t want to live so wickedly that God have to drive me away, or that God had to rise up against me in the Judgement.

Brothers and sisters Verses 1-2-3 were the good verses But verses 4-5-6 are the antithetical verses . Meaning they are directly against the prosperity of God’s people. They are the opposite of Good. And that’s why the word of God starts off telling us not to have any thing to do with wicked people. Because they will bring you down.

In other words I came here to get my blessings. I didn’t come here for no mess. I came to be Blessed. Say Amen.

Look at verse 5:Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Brothers and sisters Wicked men will not rise up with the righteous in the judgement. In other words when end of the age of the world comes you’ve got to be on the Lord side. Because Only the pure in heart shall see God. Only the righteous will share in that great getting up resurrection day. None but Righteous

Let’s read verse 5 again “Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

I found out that God has a special plan for believer and non believers. In Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And what I’ve read is that whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. The old folk use to say I was standing at the table when He signed my name.

I came to get my blessing and my advice is that you make sure that you name is in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Look at verse 6. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

The Good Lord knows us and God’s providential judgment in the course of human history has proven that God is a good God a Sovereign God a just God and a Merciful God, um um um Yes. And the congregation of righteous men/women in 2023 must be conceived as the people that God keeps on Blessing and prevents from going down to the depth of a low bottom hell um um.

But tah the wicked are going to get their just reward. Oh Lord yes I’ve got to close here now but one of these old days I’m going where the wicked shall ceased from troubling and the wearied shall be at rest oh yes I am. Lord! have mercy on our souls . Oh Lord I came to Jesus just as O was. I was wearied worn and sad but I found in Him a sweet old resting place. um yes

I came to Pilgrim Baptist Church to tell my testimony and to get my blessing yes. Because I Love the Lord He heard my cry and pitied my every groan and long as I live I’ll hasten to my God’s throne. Yes Ain’t He Alright....8th 2x 7th Ain’t He Alright Yeah yeah yeah OH Lordy.
