The Places We Don’t Wanna Go

WE
Jonah and The Whale
God Tells Jonah to go preach to nenavah Israel’s enemy.
Jonah goes in the opposite direction
God sends a Storm
They ask what to do and he says kill me.
Jonahs I’ll do what you
Jonah doesnt want to go preach to these people because
he dont like them
he knows God will forgive them he knew God would have compassion on them and they would repent.
Instead of Listening to god and to go where e said go this Man of God chose to run the opposite direction.
my wife encouraged me to change

When we talk about Jesus’s command to thourght the world and make disciples what are some of the reasons we dont go?

it might cause us to be uncomfortable
it might cost us something
we might have to learn a new skill
Sometimes we assume that Gods plan line up with our level of comforablity
sometimes we want them to have the same experience weve had or we think that that they need to come to jesus just like i did.
sometimes we dont want to get in proxsimity
its very hard to reach people that your arnt close too
we dont want to offened
we dont want to damage the relationship
why we should go
ME
Pastoring Kids at shabach
I was a gamer and they wernt
They didnt any of my illistrations and i was too stubborn to explain or even adjust to what they might need to hear.

if i wasnt going to take the effort to meet them where they were then i was waisting my time

We shorten our services and created more time for fellowhip
i started including more unversial known shows that they might understand
i even played baskball with them.
We spend the first Hour of our service playing videos like smash broes and 2k
I paid for free breakfast
I started playing the games that i HATE fort night
You can’t tell someone you love them but at the same time call what they enjoy stupid

one of the most powerful and effective ways you can reach people is to enter into their world

GOD
Acts 17:16
22 Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.
Paul used what they would be familiar with to reach them.
32 When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.” 33 At that, Paul left the Council. 34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others
YOU
it can seem daunting and Scary
Jesus has commissioned us to go through the whole world and make disciples
Paul uses what was familar to them in our to reach them

Main Idea : Use what God has given you to reach others around you.

Meet Them were they are
become all things to all people
Colossians 9:19-22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings
