Philippians 3:1 (NKJV)
1 Finally,...
were only just barely over halfway from the chapter
this is not a finally I am done
this a finally like
all to say
heres the point:
read verse 1
Philippians 3:1 (NKJV)
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.
whats the point?
rejoice in the Lord
hasnt he been saying rejoice over and over again?
yes
its not tedious
it is safe for him to say for them.
why?
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!
what a verse!
Dogs:
Evil workers
Mutilation
3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
This verse has the trinity in it
it says: that
it means that
it means to me that
so then in verses 4-6 Paul
shows how out of any he can have more confident in the flesh
but the point is
while he can have the most confidence in the flesh
he does not
lets read verses 4-6
4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Is our attention on our efforts?
is our focus on what we do
how we serve
how righteous we are compared to others
Our focus should be rejoice in the Lord
what does that look like?
