Hebrews 10:23–25 NKJV
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The past Tuesday I began to think about preaching on encouragement.
Elab in phone call.
You can either encourage someone or discourage them.
Jeff: “We love to love one another now, not wait until they die”
In our live as Christians joy of the Lord truly strengthens us.
Romans 15:13 NKJV
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We have joy in the Lord. But, there are times when we all need encouragement.
As we live a Christian life, the world is against us. Life is not easy. If we are not careful, life will bring us down.
Elijah
1 Kings 19:4 NKJV
4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!”
If you serve the Lord, people will hurt you.
Paul and Jesus Himself, all had to deal with the sorrow of watching people destroy themselves, reject God, and reject His truth... we all need encouragement
Encouragement is great thing. It can actually change the course of another person's day, week, or life.
Think about people who encouraged you.
I believe on in the greatest gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement.
When someone encourages you, and helps you through what you are going through, that is a great feeling.
Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV)
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering
We must never loosen our grip on what we believe.
I believe that Jesus in the way, the truth and the life.
Jesus is the only way.
I believe that God’s word has not changed. Sin is still sin.
Satan in doing all He can to stop the gospel.
In our county in comes in the form o law suits.
Cynical voices try to stop us from sharing our faith, or getting to change and conform to the way of the world.
Let us hold fast the confession
The Greek verb translated “hold fast” has the sense of holding firm, securing or tightening down our confession of hope
We must “hold fast without wavering”
.We must not go off balance. We must not bend or yield to winds of pressure that blow from hostile world.
We have to “hold fast” even though the circumstances of life appear overwhelm us.
Even if things have become difficult and at the moment we feel there is little reason for keeping on.
We have merciful God who “is faithful” and will not let us down.
We cannot let discouragement cause us to turn away, let go. We have to hold fast.
When lie get difficult, God uses this and strengthen you to grow in our faith. The tragedies of today will become victory's tomorrow. God is faithful, and He is faithful to His promises.
God will hold of to us, he will strengths us, He will pick us up when we are down.
And this is what we need to do to encourage others.
Hebrews 10:24 NKJV
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

And let us constantly be giving careful attention to one another for the purpose of stimulating one another to divine and self-sacrificial love and good works

“to stir up, provoke, stimulate or incite someone to do something.” In other words, to create a thirst. A thirst for what?
“toward love and good deeds.” That’s how we measure encouragement. It is not a fuzzy feeling. Its a change, its making an impact. Not trying to impress someone, but making an impact.
Churches have become a place of social gathering.
Christian fellowship takes place when we offer encouragement to our friends, pray for them, and confess our sins and weaknesses to one another. This what makes Christian fellowship real.
To many times people come to church and complain.
What to need is more encouragement.
Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV)
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:25 (AMP)
25 Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.
Too many, way too many people are forsaking or neglecting church attendance.
Many people who claim to be Christians don't think church is all that important. They think they can be a good Christians without being part of a local church.
People use excuses to no go to church.
Coviod has been one of the greatest reasons for people to not go to church, even over 3 years.
Harry, when he didn’t come to church, I knew he was sick.
“as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Exhorting: Comfort, encourage.
We come together to pray for one another.
Monday, and Yesterday we have services for two member's that passed away.
It was encouraging to the families to see all those who attended.
If we attend with enthusiasm, we encourage other believers to draw closer to Christ
If we are faithful in meeting together with them, we will honor the Lord, grow in our faith, and give a strong witness to the world.
When we gather here together, we encourage one another.
We need the encouragement of God’s people to help us become strong and faithful Christians.
When you attend church you can encourage and love others Christian, and see them grow in their faith.
In this world full of discouragement, there is no greater way to ind encouragement then to come to church, and encourage each other.
This week, call someone, or go see them, and invite them to church.
Find someone to encourage this week.
