Introduction

set the scene JTB has just died and Jesus has been told

13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16 Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

We see problems Jesus sees opportunities
Asking what seems impossible
it is impossible for us it is impossible with what we have in our hands alone.
the location is bad
there is not enough time
let the people figure out what to do
YOU HAVE WHAT THEY NEED

17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little.”

8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, *said to Him,

9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?”

18 “Bring them here to me,” he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

IT DEPENDS ON WHOSE HANDS IT’S IN A basketball in my hands is worth about $25. A basketball in LeBron James’ hands is worth about $75 million. It depends on whose hands it’s in. A baseball in my hands is worth about $8. A baseball in Jacob deGrom’s hands is worth about $27 million. It depends on whose hands it’s in. A tennis racket in my hands is worth about $75. A tennis racket in Venus Williams’ hands is worth about $50 million. It depends on whose hands it’s in. A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal. A rod in Moses’ hands will part a mighty sea. It depends on whose hands it’s in. A sling shot in my hands is a kid’s toy. A sling shot in David’s hands is a mighty weapon. It depends on whose hands it’s in. Two fish and five loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches. Two fish and five loaves of bread in Jesus’ hands fed five thousand people. It depends on whose hands it’s in. Nails in my hands could produce a birdhouse. Nails in Jesus’ hands will bring salvation to the whole world. It depends on whose hands it’s in. As you can see, it depends on whose hands it’s in. So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your families and your relationships in God’s hands because It depends on whose hands it’s in.
