Review & Overview

1. Previous Study’s Review

We mentioned in chps.24-32  Moses will go up to the Mountain of God,  Mount Sinai,  Mount Horeb.
There he will receive instructions regarding the various articles that will be used to worship the Lord…
In chp.24 & 25 God told Moses about some materials that will be needed to build the Tabernacle…   the Ark…       the Table of Showbread…      the Golden Lampstand…
And all of these materials were to be offered to the Lord with a Willing Heart… the same way the Lord wants us to offer things to Him…
2 Cor.9:7 let each one give as he purposes in his heart not grudgingly…

2. Current Study’s Overview

In chp.26-27   Moses receives more instructions from the Lord…  in chp.26 he receives instructions regarding the Tabernacle of Meeting…          or        the Tent of Meeting…
That portable structure that the Children of Israel will carry about during their wilderness wanderings…
It was 45’ long by 15’ wide:     the Holy Place was 30’ x 15’…     the Most Holy Place was 15’ x 15’…
8 things to note about the Tabernacle…

1.  The Tabernacle Coverings Vs. 1-14

1.1 Vs. 1-2

28 cubits:  42’…     4 cubits:  6’…     so 10 curtains @ 6’ wide…    60’ x 42’…
Beautiful inner curtain with Cherubim or angels surrounding the whole inside of the Tabernacle… \Which is very appropriate because this is the Dwelling place of God…
In Luke 17:21 the Kingdom of God is within you…
so are His angels surrounding us?   Oh yes…
Psalm 34:7 NKJV
7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Heb.1:14 they are all ministering spirits…
Psl.91:11 He shall give His angels charge over you…

1.2 Vs. 3-6

selvedge:  the very end, uttermost edge…
So one beautiful piece of tapestry making up the inner curtain of the Tabernacle…

1.3 Vs. 7-8

So the outer curtain or covering that makes up the tent is 3’ longer than the inner curtain…

1.4 Vs. 9-14

So the tent or Tabernacle of Meeting is made up of 3 types of material:
Goats hair or Goat skin…        Ram skin…      &   Badger skin being the outer most layer…
APPLICATION: And this is interesting because all that would be seen is a skin tent.
who could imagine all the treasure inside!?
We carry this treasure in earthen vessels.
2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

2.  The Tabernacle Frame Vs. 15-30

2.1 Vs. 15

Acacia wood, Shittem or Umbrella Tree:    is seen at the Dead Sea, its a hardwood…
So you have vertical wood siding…

2.2 Vs. 16-17

10 cubits:  15’ tall…  1 ½ cubits:  2’-3” wide…     tenons:  like a ball & socket const.

2.3 Vs. 18-30

So bars or poles were to go through the rings holding it all together…
Show Video...
APPLICATION: So this section speaks of sturdiness and stability - Acacia wood was known for its durability and resistance to decay.
This symbolizes the eternal and unchanging nature of God's word and His promises (Psalm 119:89).
Psalm 119:89 NKJV
89 Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.
In our spiritual lives, this teaches us to build our lives on the solid foundation of God's Word, which provides stability and endurance amidst life's challenges.

3. The Tabernacle Veil Vs. 31-35

So this Veil was a barrier a divider between the Most Holy Place where the Ark of the Testimony was and the Holy Place where the Table of Showbread & the Lampstand was kept…
Ancient historians tell us this veil was about 18” thick or 1 cubit…  & only the High Priest could enter the Most Holy Place once a year on Yom Kippur…       to atone for the sins of the people…
Because the Veil separated God from the people…

Matthew 27:51 NKJV
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
When Jesus was crucified, the veil in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom…
Jesus Christ paved the way for us to come directly to God…
Eph.2:14 tore down the middle wall…
Heb.4:16 let us come boldly…            read
Hebrews 10:19–23 NKJV
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

4.  The Tabernacle Door Vs. 36-37

Beautiful screen doors to the Tabernacle…    leading into the Holy Place…
This Tent or Tabernacle will be used for some 487 years until Solomon builds God a Temple…
I’m not opposed to buildings…    but    when I see these great buildings, these lavish structures…  wow.
God said meet in a tent…  in other words its not about sticks & bricks…   its about flesh and blood…
That’s one reason you don’t hear much about the new property or buildings…   its about people…
APPLICATION: But this door speaks of our Access to God's Presence:
The screen is at the entrance of the tabernacle, the place where God chose to dwell among His people.
This can remind us that, though God is holy and set apart, He has made a way for us to approach Him — initially through the tabernacle and priesthood, and for Christians, ultimately through Jesus Christ.
John 10:9 NKJV
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Here in Exodus 26, we are given a vivid description of the tabernacle, a place designed for the worship of God for the Israelites.
The entrance of the tabernacle was marked by a beautifully crafted screen, made of blue, purple, and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen.
This entrance was not just a physical separation, but a spiritual demarcation that signaled access into God’s special dwelling place among His people.
But in the New Testament, Jesus uses a simple yet profound metaphor in the Gospel of John: He is the door of the sheep.
Unlike the entrance to the tabernacle, which was limited to the high priest and only at specific times, Jesus invites us into a new kind of relationship with God — one that is personal, direct, and constant.
Through Him, we have free access to the Father. We no longer need a physical tabernacle or temple because, through Jesus, we can approach God anytime and anywhere.
