Isaac Blesses Jacob

A. In Chapter 27, EVERYBODY is getting it wrong!

B. God still gets it right.

You see, God doesn’t depend on what we do to get it right!

Isaac vs. 1-4

A. Isaac knew the declaration of God that the younger would rule and the older would serve the younger.

Genesis 25:23 ESV

23 And the Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.”

B. The boys couldn’t have been more different.

Esau the hunter and Jacob the shepherd.

Rebekah vs. 5-10

A. Plotting deception

B. Disrespecting her husband by listening in on a private convo.

Jacob vs. 11-17

A. Only concerned with how it looks

B. He puts reputation over Character

D.L. Moody said, “Character is what you are in the dark.

The Great Deception vs. 18-29

A. Isaac was tricked

B. God’s plan would have happened either way.

Esau vs. 30-40

A. Isaac realizes the plan of God

B. Esau is enraged

C. No changing it now.

Family Torn Apart vs 41-46

So…What happens when we try to do God’s job, even with good intentions?
