Telos: Prayer is about us exchanging our thoughts for His thoughts, our ways for His ways, our human need for His Divine provision.
Information
And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Inspiration
“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:
Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Revelation
3 Types of Prayer Posture:
Optimist- It will be done (Mk. 11:24)
Pessimist- My experience tells me it won’t be done
Realist- It might or might not happen (Lord I believe, help my unbelief)
Fourth Option:
Reflective- The Father tells me how to pray, and then I reflect the prayer into this world.
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.
Application
We begin our prayer with what we know from God, it is like priming the pump. We prime the pump with what we want to draw from the pump.
Then the Holy Spirit takes over.
We don’t tell God how or what to do. He is the expert, we reflect His plan in our prayer.
Examples: Healing can manifest in a lot of different ways. Finances can show up in a myriad of ways.
We don’t focus on the means, we focus on the source.
Transformation
Start your day by dedicating it to God- Whatever you have planned for me I am yield my day to you.
