Message 4

The Word

The Sun
a. I marvel at the power it has.
i. 93 million miles away.
ii. Yet we can feel its heat.
The Parker Solar Probe
iii. We are in the perfect distance to sustain life.
iv. Did all this just magically happen?
v. Genesis 1:3 (NIV) — 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

vi. By God’s very words the sun came into existence.
vii. Soak that in.

The Bible is Simple yet Complex

a. Here is an example.
i. John 1:1 (ESV) — 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Logos

i. The Word
ii. It is the most powerful instrument on earth.
iii. Admittedly it has been used for evil.
iv. It has also been abused and misused.
c. However
i. It has changed the world.
ii. It has changed lives.
iii. It is not something we worship.
iv. It is something we honor.
v. Something we cherish.
vi. Something we study.
vii. Something we preach.

God-breathed

a. Not a book of human wisdom.
i. 2 Timothy 3:16 (LSB) — 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,

ii. This single phrase encapsulates the truth that the Bible is not merely a collection of human thoughts and wisdom.

Heart of God

iii. It is a living testament to the heart of God communicated through human hands.

The breath of God

i. Imagine for a moment the breathtaking idea that God's very breath.
ii. God’s Holy Spirit as its author guiding the writes of scripture.
iii. Each word, each verse, carries the weight of His authority and the depth of His love.
iv. Through the inspired words of Scripture, God speaks to His creation.

He reveals His character.

He makes His promises.

He communicates His plans.

v. The treasure we hold in our hands.
vi. Cherish God’s word.
vii. Honor God’s word.

The Implications

a. Not just words on a page.
i. 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT) — 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
