Can we trust the Word of God? After all, it is an ancient document, hasn’t it been changed many times? Consider the following verses:
Psalm 119:89 KJV 1900
89 LAMED. For ever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven.
Psalm 119:152 KJV 1900
152 Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old That thou hast founded them for ever.
Matthew 5:18 KJV 1900
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Matthew 24:35 KJV 1900
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
1 Peter 1:23–25 KJV 1900
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
These verses show us that God has promised to preserve His Word for all generation.
This means that God’s Word is indestructible!
Tonight’s study will serve as proof that God has preserved His Word for us.

Cold Hard Facts:

Only a small percentage of books last twenty-five years
Fewer survive a century
Fewer still survive over a thousand years
The Bible was written over a 1600 year period
40 different authors
66 Books
1 Subject
The Bible (both the OT and NT) have existed, survived, and lasted for nearly two thousand years!

The Most Hated Book on the Planet

The Bible has survived numerous attacks over the years of its existence
The first attack of Satan was on the very Word of God, ‘yea hath God said?’
Over 200 years ago Thomas Paine wrote the “Age of Reason” in which he tried to discredit the Bible and destroy it.
He predicted the Bible would go out of print within fifty years
Let the record show, Thomas Paine is dead, but the Bible lives on!
No other piece of literature has been handed down and preserved as the Bible has.
Despite the hatred of men with all their attempts to destroy it, God is still fulfilling His promise!
Isaiah 40:7–8 (KJV 1900)
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: Because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: Surely the people is grass. 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: But the word of our God shall stand for ever.

The Bible Truly is God’s Settled Word

Psalm 119:89 (KJV 1900)
89 LAMED. For ever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven.
The word “Settled” means established, appointed, erected. The Word of God is eternal and will outlast everyone and everything. It truly is God’s settled Word!
What have we learned over the last several weeks? That our Bible came through:
Revelation of the mind and will of God, and was written down by...
Inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God as He worked through holy men.
The Word of God is made known to spiritual Christians through the process of illumination and all of this is possible because of...
The preservation of the Word of God through the centuries.
