PROCESS OF DELIVERANCE

Deuteronomy 7:22–23 NKJV

And the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you little by little; you will be unable to destroy them at once, lest the beasts of the field become too numerous for you. But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, and will inflict defeat upon them until they are destroyed.

We think of deliverance as a one time event when biblically it a process

They had been given the promised land yet they had to possess it little by little

Deuteronomy 7:5 NKJV

But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire.

Matthew 15:26 NKJV

But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

This verse is in the context of receiving on a daily basis, not a one time event.

Deliverance is a process as our capacity needs to be increased in order to posess the promise.

You wouldn’t be able to handle it, or maintain it.

There is going to be work on your part. Submit to God and resist the devil and he will flee.

WHERE DO CURSES COME FROM?

The devil has no ability to curse

We blame the devil on everything and because of that we cannot overcome. You give the devil too much power.

Curses have 2 main sources. God, and man.

Genesis 3:14-19- GOD first cursed the devil, then Eve, then Adam.

Deuteronomy 28:20- The Lord will send on you cursing and confusion (on HIS people)

Genesis 12:3 NKJV

I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

God is love but God is ALSO just.

GENERATIONAL CURSES

Deuteronomy 5:9 NKJV

you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Lamentations 5:7 NKJV

Our fathers sinned and are no more, But we bear their iniquities.

The penalty of sin is death

Adam and Eve should have died for their sin

Curses are a recompense system from God

God sits on a throne, Kings and Judges sit on thrones.

Instead of death, the Lord says OK there will be a consequence for your sin but you will be spared death.

Exodus 34:6–7 NKJV

And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”

This is after Moses asked to see God’s glory, this is WHO God is. Love and just.

Jeremiah 32:18 NKJV

You show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them—the Great, the Mighty God, whose name is the Lord of hosts.

Curses are the mercy of God. Blessings are the grace of God.

Romans 12:19 NKJV

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Some of you want to curse your enemies, your enemies will pay plus their future generations.

Genesis 12:3 NKJV

I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Curses are God’s justice system, wouldn’t you want justice if your daughter was molested?

Death has been removed from your life through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ however there is still a penalty for disobedience.

The wrath of God was done with on the cross, He is not angry at you. However if you walk into sin, you walk into the curse, the word has already been spoken, it is spiritual law.

LEGAL SYSTEM

This changes everything, to break a curse we need to know the nature of a curse.

God send an evil spirit through a legal system. A courtroom setting in heaven.

We overturn curses through a legal system.

Proverbs 26:2 NKJV

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight.

NLT says undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.

WHAT IS A CURSE?

Curses are like a dark shadow that hands over your life that affects some or all aspects of your life.

A curse is a vehicle of supernatural power.

A curse is like something that is bent (like the woman) and no matter what you do… prayer, fasting, church etc… you cannot fix it.

Invisible source but a physical affect.

CURSE OF DISOBEDIENCE

Every curse is rooted in disobedience

Deuteronomy 28:15 NKJV

“But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

Galatians 3:13 NKJV

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),

The curse of the law comes from disobedience

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law yet:

Galatians 3:1 NKJV

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

Ephesians 4:27 NKJV

nor give place to the devil.

The power of the curse is broken, just as sin has no power over you, and demons have no power over you.

However the presence of sin, can still be with you (see Romans 7), the presence of demons and curses can still be with you.

You can be given the armour of God but still need to put it on and wear it.

Israel was given the promised land yet they had to possess it overtime.

CURSE OF MAN

Psalm 33:9 NKJV

For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

God speaks and it is done. God said “let there be light” and there was light.

There is creative power in the mouth of God, and you are made in His image.

You have been given the same creative power in your mouth as God.

Proverbs 18:21 NKJV

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Matthew 12:37 NKJV

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Jesus said what comes out of the mouth is what defiles you

Leviticus 20:9 NKJV

‘For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him.

What you speak holds so much power that simply speaking a curse over your parents in the OT is a death sentence for you.

Their blood is on your hands! For your curse will cause destruction upon them.

It is as if you had murdered your own parents.

CURSES COMING BACK ON YOU

Psalm 109:17–19 NKJV

As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; As he did not delight in blessing, so let it be far from him. As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, So let it enter his body like water, And like oil into his bones. Let it be to him like the garment which covers him, And for a belt with which he girds himself continually.

When you curse, the curse falls back on you. Be it you speak it to someone else, or yourself.

SELF INFLICTED CURSES

Ecclesiastes 10:12 NKJV

The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up;

ESV says your words will consume you.

Your own disobedience and your own words can cause you to curse yourself.

“I am so sick of this”

Jacob’s mom Rebekah- Genesis 27:13- “I will take the curse upon myself”. She died after this.

James 3:9–10 NKJV

With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

You will never rise above your confession

Objects can also be cursed, they can be a vessel of the demonic just as a cloth can be used as a vessel for the anointing.

CURSES FROM DEUTERONOMY 28

Constant financial lack, everything you bring in goes back out. The work of your hands is cursed. Everything you do falls apart.

Deuteronomy 28:16–17 NKJV

“Cursed shall you be in the city, and cursed shall you be in the country. “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.

You will toil and work hard but you will not benefit from it. Strangers will benefit from your labour.

Deuteronomy 28:33 NKJV

A nation whom you have not known shall eat the fruit of your land and the produce of your labor, and you shall be only oppressed and crushed continually.

Psalm 127:2 NKJV

It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.

Mental illness and breakdown, spiritual blindness. Nobody in your family serves the Lord.

Deuteronomy 28:28 NKJV

The Lord will strike you with madness and blindness and confusion of heart.

Generational sickness, inability to receive healing, doctors can’t help you. Premature death.

Deuteronomy 28:22 NKJV

The Lord will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with severe burning fever, with the sword, with scorching, and with mildew; they shall pursue you until you perish.

Deuteronomy 28:27 NKJV

The Lord will strike you with the boils of Egypt, with tumors, with the scab, and with the itch, from which you cannot be healed.

Generational suicides and premature death

Deuteronomy 28:65–67 NKJV

And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place; but there the Lord will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and anguish of soul. Your life shall hang in doubt before you; you shall fear day and night, and have no assurance of life. In the morning you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were evening!’ And at evening you shall say, ‘Oh, that it were morning!’ because of the fear which terrifies your heart, and because of the sight which your eyes see.

Divorce, failed marriages, adultery.

Deuteronomy 28:30 NKJV

“You shall betroth a wife, but another man shall lie with her; you shall build a house, but you shall not dwell in it; you shall plant a vineyard, but shall not gather its grapes.

Destruction in the family, abuse.

Deuteronomy 28:54 NKJV

The sensitive and very refined man among you will be hostile toward his brother, toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the rest of his children whom he leaves behind,

Isolation, seperation in families

Deuteronomy 28:41 NKJV

You shall beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity.

Miscarriages and barenness

Exodus 23:26 NKJV

No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

Others will have dominion and control over you, you won’t have dominion over your own life.

Deuteronomy 28:43 NKJV

“The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower.

Child sacrifice

You shall eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and your daughters whom the Lord your God has given you, in the siege and desperate straits in which your enemy shall distress you.

Generational idolatry, serving other gods.

Deuteronomy 28:36 NKJV

“The Lord will bring you and the king whom you set over you to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods—wood and stone.

Common abnormal accidents and near death experiences, yoke of oppression, lack and bareness, poverty, “bad luck” following you everywhere, your enemies constantly have victory over you.

PURPOSE OF A CURSE

Leviticus 26:39 NKJV

And those of you who are left shall waste away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; also in their fathers’ iniquities, which are with them, they shall waste away.

BREAKING CURSES

Leviticus 26:40–42 NKJV

‘But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, and that they also have walked contrary to Me, and that I also have walked contrary to them and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if their uncircumcised hearts are humbled, and they accept their guilt— then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham I will remember; I will remember the land.

REPENT AND RENOUNCE

Repent for your own sins

Repent for your family and ancestor’s sins

Repent for those have abused you, ungodly connections (see Daniel 9)

Daniel repented for himself, his ancestors, governmental authorities, and the nation.

Intercession, taking the guilt upon yourself and standing in the gap.

Call on the mercy of God. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

Luke 6:27–28 NKJV

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

RELEASE

Forgive/release

Bless and submit to Jesus.

Hebrews 3:1 NKJV

Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,

REPLACE

They came back to an empty house and were able to redemonize the person

Overcome curses by blessings overtaking you instead

Confess the promises of God and make blessings your confession

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

THE REVELATION OF CHRIST

Galatians 3:13–14 NKJV

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Deliverance is your inheritance, the price has been paid

Not by your works, not by your perfection, not by your prayer and fasting and giving, not by your church going, but by Jesus Christ.

You are being delivered today because Jesus has taken the curse upon himself.

Understand the blood.

When you know your identity you will walk in freedom.

Confess and appropriate the work of Jesus Christ.
