Exodus 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God the lesson today is to “Follow the Rules,3x Follow the rules so God can funnel you into a fabulous future. And and and your faithfulness in this matter is required so that you don’t fizzle before the finish.

Let me make it plain. Follow the Rules of The Passover so you can Live.

It all started when Jacob’s 11th son Joseph was sold to an Egyptian caravan because his bothers were jealous of him. And what the devil meant for bad God turned it around for Joseph’s good. Joseph became Prime Minister in Egypt and saved the know civilized world including his Father Jacob and his 11 brothers. Alright everybody is sorry and Joseph forgives them and set up 70 family members in the land of Goshen. Things were lovely there.

Goshen was a lush fertile plain that was good for everything, Good for living, Good for livestock, Good for growing crops and the weather was Good too.

But one day there came a Pharaoh that knew not Joseph or his contributions. And long story short the Egyptians instead of partnering with the Hebrews they enslaved them. Yes Indeed.

That tell me How fast you can go from favored to flawed in the eyes of people. The Egyptians were ruthless and Pharaoh was cruel to the Israelites. Them was some dirty people. 2x. Them were so dirty until they started killing all if the male Hebrew babies.

It was a diabolical massacre of epic proportion and the bible said that Rachel cried out from the death over the death of her babies. And For the record I’m so glad my mother was pro life. I’m not on nobody’s side, but I’m for preserving life. Babies are so precious too me.

And so speaking of preserving life, Moses was born and his mother hid him off until he was getting too big to hid. So they made him a floating basket and put baby Moses in the shallow part of the Nile River.

Meanwhile, Pharaoh’s daughter couldn’t have children and saw the handsome baby boy floating down the shallow part of the river and got her servants to get him out of the river. She adopted him and raised Moses as the Prince of Egypt for 40 years. After a while Moses killed an Egyptian for treating a Hebrew slave badly.

Moses ran away and went to the land of Midian for 40 more years herding dumb sheep. Moses finally met God on top of the mountain. Moses saw a bush that was burning but didn’t burn up. When Moses got close God said Moses Moses and Moses said here am I Lord. The Lord said Moses take off your shoes son because the ground you standing on is Holy Ground. God said I’ve heard the cry of my people I’ve seen the affliction of my people I’ve know of the harsh Egyptian oppression, depression, recession and obscene obsession the Egyptian have with enslaving my people.

And God said and “Moses you’re going to go and tell Pharaoh to “Let my people go”. And Moses went to studdering uh uh uh. And Brothers and sisters “With man a lot of things can’t be done, but with God all things are possible”. The Lord said No excuses Moses, you’re going to go and tell your older brother Aaron to speak what I tell you to tell pharaoh ok.

Moses was reluctantly obedient. And sometimes It’s okay to be reluctantly obedient. Because to be disobedient means to be out of the will of God. So Moses listened.

Moses said who shall I say sent me, Lord? The Lord answered tell them “I AM THAT I AM” sent you.

Moses goes but they don’t want to listen. His own people don’t want to listen. However; Moses is persistent and goes before Pharaoh and say “Pharaoh, The Lord God Jehovah said to Let My People go so they may serve Me”. And the bible says that pharaoh’s heart was hard and he said no. I ain’t letting nobody go nowhere!!

So Moses throws down His Shepherd staff and the staff turns into a snake. Yes indeed. Pharaoh’s magicians came and threw down theirs rods as well. And theirs rods turned to snakes too. But Moses’ snake eat up the Egyptian’s snakes and Moses grab his snake by the tail and the snake turned back into his Shepherd’s staff. Yes Indeed

They were astonished but Pharaoh said I’m still not letting your people go.

God made Pharaoh’s heart hard for NINE PLAGUES. Pharaoh’s heart was hard and Pharaoh trusted in his gods. So our God The Lord God Elohim, directly attacked pharaoh’s gods.

1. God told Moses in Exodus 7:14-25 to turn the Nile River the longest river in the world . Turn the Nile River into blood. And the Nile river being turned to blood it affected the primary source of water in the heart of Egyptian life. And the god that was over the annual flooding of the Nile River was named Hapi. And so God attacked hapi the False Egyptian god and And pharaoh wouldn’t let the children of Israel go free.

2. Then the Lord sent the plague of the frogs on the land of Egypt. They had frogs everywhere. Pharaoh asked for Moses to ask his God to get rid of the frogs and he would let the children of Israel go. and so Exodus 8:1-15 says God made all the frogs suddenly die. and the land was stinking to high heaven. And this was directly against heqet the goodness of fertility and childbirth who look like a frog. When I found that out I said to myself, how you gon have a god that looks likes a frog? Frogs give you warts.

3.Pharaoh in Exodus 8:16-19 wouldn’t listen to Moses. And Moses put up some dust from the ground and threw the dust up in the air and the bible says there was lice and gnats everywhere. You ever been fishing and didn’t put on no mosquitoes repealant boy those gnats are the most annoying little creature and they bite. So the gnats and the lice are eating the Egyptian up and the gnats was directly against geb the Egyptian’s god of the dust because gnats come from the dust.

4 Then came the plague of the flies and mosquitoes Exodus 8:20-32 Flies were all over the cattle livestock and all over the Egyptians but for the record none of the plagues were ever in the land of Goshen. The flies were directly against khepri the god of the rising sun who had a head of a fly. Over and over Our God is proving to hard hearted Pharaoh that He’s the True and Living God. And for the record God has made pharaoh’s heart hard. yeah 3x.

5. God sent the plague of Death to the Livestock in Egypt land but in the land of Goshen the livestock was unharmed. And so our God was directly against the Egyptian god hathor who was a goddess that looked like a cow, yes indeed. And pharaoh’s heart grew even harder.

6. Then God sent the plague of Boils in Exodus 9:8-12 Boils just started popping up on the Egyptian and their animals and God did this to be directly against the Egyptian god imhotep. imhitep was the god of healing and medicine. And pharaoh still would let God’s people go that they could go.

7. Then the plague of Hail in Exodus 9:13-35 God struck the Egyptians with hailstorms so fierce that if you were caught out in it the hail, the hail would knock your brains out and kill you. And the bible says that the hail was on fire!!! Yes indeed Then that when pharaoh’s officials started siding with Moses and started saying pharaoh maybe you ought to let the children of Israel go before we are all destroyed. And this hail storm was directly against the Egyptian god, seth who was the god of storms and disorder.

8. In Exodus 10:1-20 the plague of the Locusts came. The Lord cause a great wind to bring in millions of locusts they ate every plant that hadn’t been destroyed by the hail storms. Then the Egyptian officials pleaded with pharaoh to let them Hebrews go. In other words pharaoh please listen to Moses. But pharaoh’s heart was hard. And God sent the locust to Egypt to go directly against serapia the god of the head of the locust who was supposed to protect them against the locust.

But listen ain’t no fake Egyptian god can match the awesome power of the Almighty God we serve.

9. The the plague of Darkness. Darkness came over the land . And theologians say the darkness was so thick until you could cut it with a knife. That’s mighty dark, and in Exodus 10:21-29 this plague was directly against the famous Egyptian god ra the sun god.

And then finally

10. The plague of Death On The Firstborn And so for the second part of this sermon I’d like to teach about the OLD TESTAMENT Passover, that later became the New Testament Communion.

This last plague was a direct attack on the linage and diety of pharaoh himself. Because the Egyptian consider the Pharaoh to be a god. yes indeed.

And so in Exodus 12 God gave Moses some specific instructions and directives to the Children of Israel. Everybody turn to Exodus chapter 12. When I was teaching in the public school system I would tell my students Listen one listen all tomorrow I’m giving the answers to the test so don’t be absent. And God said to Moses call all of Israel together Because If they miss these instructions, they are going to die.

Everybody must Follow the Rules of the Passover to Live. .

The Lord told Moses get All of the Children of Israel together, and give them instructions.

Moses said this is the first month, and according to the old Hebrew agricultural calendar it was the beginning of March/April.

Then every man in the Hebrew community must take a lamb for his family. The lambs the men choose has to be one year old and they can not have any defects at all.

The man is to take care of the lamb until the 14th day of the month. Then all of the people must slaughter the lamb together at twilight hour.

Follow the rules of the Passover and live. Then Exodus 12:7 say they are to take the blood and put it on the sides of each exterior doorpost of their homes. and over the tops of their door frames.

That tells me that everybody got to cover their own homes. You’ve got to plead the blood over your own home. Amen

Follow the Rules of the Passover and live.

After The congregation of Israel put the blood over the doorposts and on the sides of the door posts Everybody had to go inside and not come out until morning.

Follow the Rules Of the Passover and Live.

Then each Hebrew family had to roast the lamb over the fire. They had to also roast bitter herbs. The bitter herbs were Chicory, cos lettuce, endive, sorrell and dandelions. Nowadays horseradish is chosen to represent bitter herbs.

Follow the Rules of the Passover and Live

The bitter herbs and unleavened bread was intended to remind the Israelites of the bitterness of their slavery.

The bible says the men had to eat their meal with their cloak tucked into their belt.

Follow the Rules of the Passover and Live.

They were to keep their sandals on and have their staffs in their hands.

Follow the Rules of The Passover and Live. The bible says they had to eat in a hurry because it’s the Lord’s Passover.

Follow the Rules of the Passover and Live.

Church obedience is better than sacrifice. The children of Israel were on one accord. Everybody listened and lived.

The bible says that on that same night The Death Angel strode through the streets of Egypt and through the land of Goshen. This death angel has no righteous list and no wicked list. The only indicator that saved them was the blood painted over the doorposts of their homes.

The death angel brings judgement. His job is death and destruction. It’s not personal No No No The death angel was designed to Follow the Order given by God Himself. And some theologian say that GOD lowered His voltage and fashioned Himself as the Death Angel and strode through the streets and halls of the Egyptian Palace to show Pharaoh who the real God is.

And at the end of the night Every firstborn man woman boy girl and animal dropped dead instantly.

And for the record that’s why I don’t play with God. The Passover is very important it’s very significant and it’s very pertinent to our salvation with God. The Blood saved the Children of Israel in biblical antiquity.

And now the Blood of Jesus saves us from a low bottom hell in 2023.

Slowly, In closing the worship of the Monotheistic God of the Hebrews had come a Mighty mighty long ways. Because the name Elohim means, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.

And one day God the Father said mankind needs a redeemer. And There began to be a rumbling and a tumbling, a clicking and a clacking, and a mighty moving around under God’s throne um um

And then God the Father Looked under His Great White Throne and saw a Lamb as it had already been slain before the foundations of the world um um.

And I heard the Lamb saying Father I’ll go and redeem mankind back to you. um um um. And I heard the Lamb saying Father just give me a baby’s body um and give me ten thousand blessings in my hand just too satisfy the poor. Oh Lordy

And Father please give me 33 years to get it all done. And Jesus came down through 42 generations. He was born in Bethlehem, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Oh lord

He grew up in Nazareth yes. At 30 years old at a wedding Jesus turn water to wine, he made the lame to walk the dumb to talk the deaf to hear. He healed the sick, He gave sight to the blind and He raise the dead oh Lord

He fed the hungry and gave Living water to the thirsty soul. Oh yes He did.

He was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. Suffered under Pontius Pilate. They whip Him beat Him Bruised Him and battered him. They Put a crown of thorns on His and led Him on up to Calvary. They stretched Him wide and Nailed Him to an Old Rugged Cross. They hung Him up high and pierced Him in His side and Oh He Died. Yeah He Died Didn’t He die? Three days later Early 3x. Sunday Morning He Got Up!!! With All Power in His Hands.
