Paul’s Thorn
2 Cor 12 :9 “9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.”
No one is more influential in your life than you are, because no one talks to you more than you do. You are in a constant conversation with yourself. And that is either a gospel-driven conversation that acknowledges weakness and seeks grace, or it is a delusional self-swindling conversation that promotes delusions of human strength and delusions of human righteousness that sets me up for temptation. - Paul Tripp

2. The Strength of the Saviour

v.27,28,30 - Predictions were Perfect
Zec 13:7 “7 Sword, awake against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate— this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.”
V.32 - Closest were Chosen
V.34-36 - Distress was Debilitating
Hematohidrosis- Sweating Blood
This Cup - Isaiah 51:22 “22 This is what your Lord says— the Lord, even your God, who defends his people— “Look, I have removed from your hand the cup that causes staggering; that goblet, the cup of my fury. You will never drink it again.”
V. 35 - Distinguish not Divided
Humble Humiliation
Phil 2:5-8 “5 Adopt the same attitude as that of Christ Jesus, 6 who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. 7 Instead he emptied himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when he had come as a man, 8 he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death— even to death on a cross. “
V. 36 - Assurance was Astonding
V. 37 - Rebuke was a Reminder
Matthew 16:17-19 “17 Jesus responded, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.””
V. 39 - Prayers were Persistent
V.41-42 - Time Tells Truth
