Introduction
Greetings…
Theme: The Godhead
Hope: To draw closer to God through a better understanding of God the Father, Son, and Spirit.
Last week we examined “God In The Flesh: Our Connection.”
How Jesus is “The Way to the Father.”
How Jesus is “The Truth of the Father.”
How Jesus is “The Life for the Father.”
This week we turn our attention to God the Son, “Our Teacher.”
As the Master Teacher’s disciples it only makes since to study our Teacher’s teaching practice so that we too can mimic his teaching life and style.
So with that in mind what do we find concerning “Our Teacher?”
As a Master Teacher here on earth Jesus demonstrated…
Purity Of Life
Purity Of Life
Jesus Wasn’t A Hypocrite.
Jesus Wasn’t A Hypocrite.
There is no one in life that led a more pure life than the only begotten Son of God.
Jesus was tempted to use his divine power for selfish and sinful reasons and he refused.
4 But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
When invited to “leap off the temple to test the Father” Jesus declined by saying…
7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
When Jesus was offered the easy road to kingship he boldly declined saying rather…
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’ ”
I bring up his purity of life because that was a vital part of his ability to teach God’s word.
No one will listen to a hypocrite very long.
The fact is, truth sounds rather foolish from the mouth of someone who will not live it.
Summary
Summary
As our teacher (Matthew 10:24) Jesus demonstrated in his life here on earth that he is worthy of us listening to his teachings and following in his steps.
As “teachers” of his word let us not be found to give others a reason through our own hypocrisy a reason to doubt the Master Teacher.
As the Master teacher here on earth Jesus showed…
Passion For Souls
Passion For Souls
Jesus Left Almost Everything.
Jesus Left Almost Everything.
Jesus didn’t just give up something “the leftovers” for those he was willing to teach he gave up everything but righteousness.
Jesus gave up heaven to teach others.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Jesus gave up glory to teach others.
5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
Jesus gave up earthly comforts to teach others.
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
Jesus gave up his life to teach others.
30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Having a passion for souls means giving up certain comforts int his life to help others in the next life.
It might mean we loose friends.
It might mean we meet to study when we are tired and soar.
It might mean we don’t get to spend as much time with our loved ones as we would like.
As “teachers” of his word let us be found as having as much passion for the souls of others as we do for ourselves.
As the Master teacher here on earth Jesus used…
Unfailing Logic
Unfailing Logic
Jesus Proved His Point.
Jesus Proved His Point.
Jesus the Master Teacher always proved what he was teaching through logic and reasoning.
He was so affirmative in his teaching that people noticed he taught with authority.
22 And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.
He was so effective in his logical argumentation and so adequately answer those who challenged him that as Mark 12:34 describes…
Mark 12:34 (ESV)
34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.
This of course has always been an attribute of divinity.
Isaiah 1:18 (ESV)
18 Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Summary
Summary
The Master Teacher demonstrated an ability to “prove everything” through logic and reason.
Truth is often lost on people because the teacher fails to effectively argue and prove his/her point.
I have seen and read of debates where the one with the truth lost the debate because he did not effectively argue the point.
As his disciples who are to follow in their Master Teacher’s footsteps we too are to communicate in our teaching through logic and reason.
We are to be able to…
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Lastly, the Master Teacher had an uncanny ability to use his…

Jesus Took The Lofty & Made It Simple.
Jesus Took The Lofty & Made It Simple.
Jesus had a remarkable ability to take the complicated concepts and communicate them in a meaningful and simple way.
We need to look no further than the parables he used to teach such lessons.
Just consider how many different ways he described the “kingdom of heaven.”
As wheat and tares.
Matthew 13:24–25 (ESV)
24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.”
As a mustard seed.
31 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
As leaven hidden in bread.
33 He told them another parable. “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, till it was all leavened.”
As treasure hidden in a field.
Matthew 13:44 (ESV)
44 The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
As a pearl of great value.
Matthew 13:45 (ESV)
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls
As a drag net cast into the sea.
Matthew 13:47 (ESV)
47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind.
Summary
Summary
The Master Teacher was great because he always looked for fresh and new ways to aid his hearers in their understanding of spiritual principles.
As his disciples who teach others it is easy to get caught up in “just giving the facts” but we need strive to make simple the difficult by using whatever is at our disposal.

v
Invitation
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.
8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,
3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
