Last Week - God Has Made Himself Known
1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
God make himself known through what he has made.
Victoria Falls, Sahara Desert, Great Barrier Reef, Grand Canyon, Northern Lights, Stars, Galaxies.
We can know his greatness, wisdom, power, and beauty.
God is Greatness - Is connected to his power
God is Goodness - Is connected to his righteousness.
15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them
Charades - What am I? Monkey, Kangaroo, Eagle
We know there is a God through what he has made.
All creation gives a witness.
Our very own hearts give a witness.
1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.
19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

v16 - “All” scripture comes from God.
He tell us everything he wants us to know about Him.
He does not tell us everything about Him.
v16 - It is “breathed out by God”
All of Scripture comes from God’s own mouth.
He used about 40 different authors over about 1400-1500 years to write what are known at 66 books.
13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
God’s says when certain men spoke or wrote it was actually the very Words of God.
Can we be sure the Bible is really from God and not men?
20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit was God working in men to speak and write down God’s very words.
Men like - Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Amos, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, and Paul.
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Profitable - beneficial, useful, advance, growth
for teaching - giving us knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
for reproof - telling us what we need to hear but don’t want to hear.
for correction - telling us how to make a change in how we think, what we say, or what we do.
for training righteousness - telling us what is good, true, and beautiful
training is the Greek word ‘paideia’ which is an important word in classical education, but it does not have a good English word to fit.
"paideia” is best understood as the God-honoring enculturation of knowledge, understanding, values, culture, and wisdom.
