A Song of Ascents. 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Obituary & Eulogy

Julian Wayne Brown

MARCH 31, 1940 – AUGUST 16, 2023

Julian Wayne Brown, age 83, of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

He was predeceased by his father Joe Brown, his mother Verlie Owens Brown, and his loving daughter Angela Dawn Brown, and his sister Paula Jean Brown Ingram. His survivors include his wife Rosalie Wilger Brown and his son Mark Wayne Brown and all of his nieces and nephews.
Wayne was born in Titus, AL and came to Montgomery during high school days and went to school at Sydney Lanier H.S. Shortly thereafter he worked for Appleton Wire in Montgomery and worked 36 years until retirement. I asked Rosie what his hobbies were and he enjoyed a little fishing over the years, but what he really enjoyed was roaming around shopping for deals. He was a bargain hunter. He enjoyed being with Rosie and enjoyed their home.
It’s amazing how God works. About the time Wayne’s health begin to fail and he needed to be closer to town with doctors and a pharmacy, a relative graced him with a home in Wetumpka and they were so blessed to receive that home at the time it came.
I have been Rosie’s pastor for 9 years and had several occasions to visit Wayne in the hospital or at the home on Crommelin. I enjoyed talking with Wayne because we knew a lot of the same people. The real blessing is we both knew the same Jesus. I asked Wayne if he knew Jesus as His Lord and Savior and He answered in the affirmative.
That provides peace in a time such as now. Isn’t it interesting that he was blessed to have a cousin give him a home.-Bobby Owens
A greater blessing is to know that our Heavenly Father had a home for Him and has a home for you for the asking.
John 14:1-6 “1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Jesus states “let not your heart be troubled.” Oh friends and family this morning, do not be worried about Wayne. Wayne is worried about you. Have you asked the Lord to reserve you a place by believing in His Son, Jesus?
Heaven is a Plentiful Place
“many mansions”-there is a place for you and Wayne has a home in heaven.
“no more tears, no more sorrow, no more sea”
2. Heaven is a Prepared Place
“I go and prepare a place for you.”
Interestingly, there are no hospital beds or oxygen or prescriptions in heaven.
2 Corinthians 5:1 “1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
3. Heaven is Priceless Place
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by me.”
Heaven is a plentiful place in that there is room for everyone here this morning. It is a prepared place in that there is a place specifically prepared for you. But it is a petitioned place.
For you to have a place in heaven it will not cost you one red cent but it cost Jesus everything, His very life to pay a ransom for your sins. Heaven is available simply for the asking, asking Jesus to come into your heart and save you from your sins.
See, Wayne knowing about the home he now lives in would want to know today have you set your affairs in order? Have you accepted the Lord’s petition to trust Him and surrender your life to Him today?
Scripture Reading
1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 “14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
Closing Comments & Prayer
We commit this earthen vessel to the Lord this morning and we live in the assurance that Wayne is now in perfect peace, perfect health and in the perfect presence of the Lord. We thank you for the many memories. I know Rosie thanks Wayne for the many years they enjoyed together in marriage and his love for her. I know Mark thanks Wayne for life itself and the fact that God used him to bring Mark into this world and for his life and impact. But we especially pray that in times like thee we have a Savior.
Let’s pray
Lord, thank you that we have a Savior in times as these. Heavenly Father, thank you for Wayne’s life. Oh dear Lord, I know this family and these friends mourn the loss of Wayne. Love is of you for God is love. You taught us to love. But heavenly Father, may we all mourn differently knowing that Wayne is alright. He is in a perfect place with you. Lord, you have left these here to fulfill your mission for their lives. Guide, direct and comfort them.
Numbers 6:24-26 “24 “The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” ’” IN Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.
