Supernatural Week Two

SONS OF GOD AND SONS OF MEN:

Gen 2:1

“the host were created with the rest of creation; this is where these Genesis 6:1-4 sons of god come from

and Genesis 6:1-4 have consequences.

Then Gen 6:1-4 this IS A DIVINE REBELLION, these sons do what is wrong (free will, bi-directional movement between the realms)

This creates the “hero” generation, and (the giants of Gath come from this place)

Psalm 82 discusses some of the consequences as well as the flood of Genesis 6 accounts for some of this

1. God shortens lifespans (makes sense in light of the eternal nature of the sons of god)

2. Then we see an increase in wickedness, this union seems to have created issues that required a re-set of the earth.

1. 1. the flood is one consequence

2. Psalm 82 is another consequences, mortality for those fallen sons

PSALM 82: THIS IS A COURTROOM SCENE, God is challenging the lesser gods to “take care of people, deliver them from the wicked” to act like He would, in essence because “they (us) the foundations of the earth are shaken”

Verse 6 is the judgment of them, “you are gods, but you will die the death of mortals” that is the punishment for the transgressions

• the first ‘sons of God’ failed
• Adam is a son of God, a human son of God.
• He also fails in spectacular form. Gen 3:6-8

-------------- TWO REBELLIONS, TWO FALLS---------

1. SO NOW WE HAVE ADAMS FALL, (THE MAN OF FLESH HAS FALLEN)

2. AND THE SONS OF GOD HAVE FALLEN.

So now we need both a Son of God and a Son of Man, to restore Gods vision for the cosmos.

Someone to heal the spiritual and the physical, someone to save both the

• ‘sons of God’ and
• the sons of Adam.

FIRST, THE SON OF MAN

THEN JESUS USES THIS SAME IMAGERY FOR HIMSELF

• Matthew 26:64 and causes a huge disruption, BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT HE IS HINTING AT

THEN WE NEED THE SON OF GOD, UNLIKE THE OTHER SONS

Jesus comes as the “one and only” or “one of a Kind” son of God Jn 1:14.

• A human and a God. A Son of God and a Son of man. One who can save gods and Men. (born of a human woman, incidentally)
• Hebrews 2:14
• THE NEED FOR FLESH; JESUS BORE FLESH TO HEAL OUR FLESH

SO WHAT?

2 Corinthians 10:1-5

1: you have divine power

you can control your thinking

we can discern and destroy false narratives about god, ourselves, the “reality” of the world...

Romans 8:38 These powers cannot defeat you; these powers cannot separate US from God

Jesus won the battle for our minds, and the battle for our flesh.
