The Disciples Were Sorrowful

They were more focused on their situation that on Jesus

While earlier Peter did ask “where are you going” he did that only to proclaim His undying devotion that would later die.

It is Good that Jesus Left

συμφέρω sumphĕrō

Good, Helpful, Profitable, Benefits, Better

Without Jesus returning to the Father, there would be no atonement

Without Jesus returning to the Father, there would be no resurrection

Without Jesus returning to the Father, there would be no ministry of the Spirit

The Convicting Work of the Spirit

Sin

People will have a natural understanding of their sin

The Spirit will show people their sin

Without the Spirit, none of us would come to the recognition that we are sinners (Romans 3)

Righteousness

People will have a natural understanding of right and wrong

Imputation

Adam’s sin is imputed to us

Our Sin is imputed to Christ

Christ’s righteous is imputed to us

The Scape Goat (OT)

Judgement

People will have a natural understanding of the judgement that is coming

The Spirit will convict people of the judgement Satan has already recieved

The Revealing Work of the Spirit

The Spirit Illuminates Scripture

Likewise today the Spirit helps us to interpret Scripture

When we discuss the scripture with someone but as plain as it is, they do not understand, it is because the Spirit has not revealed it to them.

There is unity in the Trinity

No part of the Godhead will teach falseness

The Spirit will declare the truth about Jesus

It is not our responsibility to make people believe
