Intro

After Sin entered the world, humans grew worse and worse.
Genesis 6:5–6 ESV
The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart.
Cain and Able were just the beginning.
Evil Quickly increased and violence spread everywhere.
Advanced cities were created,
This would have been the time of Atlantis along with a host of other lost lost civilizations. But even though it is believed that they were highly intelligent it is also known that they were very violent. God saw this evil rise so much that He regretted making humans.
So God warned Noah, Build an Ark. Its about to rain

Darkness and Death had Won

Genesis 7:17–23 ESV
The flood continued forty days on the earth. The waters increased and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters prevailed and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep. And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, livestock, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind. Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.
God’s righteous judgment fell on the Earth. It destroyed everything. Evil Had grown so great that Gods only option was to restart everything. So He sent a worldwide flood that was so devastating civilizations were talking about it 1000 years after it happened.
This event was so catastrophic that we can’t fathom it horror.
The Earth was ripped open.
Genesis 7:11 ESV
In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.
The Ocean Floors tore open.
Send Tsunami, after Tsunami, after tsunami on the lands covering the lowlands first and eventually intensifying and covering the mountains.
This occured so quickly that animals had no warning. Many of the dinosaurs drowned with mud in their mouths.
Fish dies in middle of dinner
Marine Dinosaur frozen in time giving birth.
Death Destruction, and loneliness.
For a year this Flood even happened.
Imagine what that must have looked liked 6 months 9 months in. the earth is flooded. Will this judgment ever end? We only have so much food. How much longer?
How scary it must have been during this season for Noah and his family.
Everyone they knew is dead. The world they knew is gone. What lies beneath the water?
It would be very easy to lose hope would it not?
Have you ever felt this way when everything has shifted and no your entire life is different and you don’t know what to do? It’s scary.
It is easy to begin to think? has God forgotten me? Am I lost in this chaotic world?
what hope is there for me now?

But God Remembered Noah

Genesis 8:1 ESV
But God remembered Noah and all the beasts and all the livestock that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided.
In midst of all of this death and destruction God saw a tiny speck floating on this water world, and now His eyes turned toward the men and women within this boat.
But God remembered Noah!
In the midst of all his wrath and judgement, gods eyes were still on one man, who remained faithful.
So God sent wind all over the earth to dry the earth so that Life could start anew.
This morning I want to remind you that god remembers your name too. He knows right where you are just like Noah.
Just like it was for Noah, God redemption is on the way for you! If you remain Faithful to Him.
How do I know God still rescues today?
You and I know it because Gods promise still stands in the sky today!

Gods Promise Stands Today!

Genesis 9:8–13 ESV
Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
God’s Rainbow is a visible marker for us that His redemption is still alive today!
He still stretches the Bow over the sky reminding us and Himself of that Promise.
