Introduction
Nehemiah known as the builder
Nehemiah asked a simple question. How are the Jews doing?
They answer broke his heart and he began weep and mourn. he recieved a Burden.
when we see and hear what is happening in our City and neighborhood does it effect us at all? It should smote us as it did Nehemiah. If we believe in the Evil One and we know he has come to steal Kill and Destroy we should have burden for our City.
Nehemiah"s Prayer
After hearing of the destruction of Jerusalem"s Wall Nehemiah heart was broke and he began to Pray.
Nehemiah 1:5 And said, I beseech thee, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
First God I seek you in this Matter. we already know it is not the will of God for our city to be unprotected. So it is the will of God for the a wall of Protection to be Fortified and Strong.
Then he gave God honor and praise your are great and awesome God.
Then he reminded God there is a covenant between you and your people.
Nehemiah 1:6 Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.
Now God please hear me and see what has happened I want you to hear and see the burden that is my Heart.
Repentance has began. we all have sinned Israel me and my House we all have sinned.
Nehemiah 1:7 We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
we Have failed to keep our end of the covenant.
Verses 8-11 Nehemiah reminds God of his Covenant with Israel how as long as Israel obeyed his Laws they would be protected .

Nehemiah before the king

Nehemiah job was a cupbearer. He had to serve and taste any drink before the King.
Nehemiah was normal a happy and lighthearted Man but today was different.
Nehemiah 2:2 Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
The King noticed the heavy Heart of Nehemiah. Does your Family, friends and those you meet know of your burden for the Lost. Is it visible to God?
The King not only blessed Nehemiah to follow his burden but wholeheartedly gave him permission and provisions.
Our King God is always on our side to win souls and reclaiming our City.

Nehemiah Arrives at the Walls

Nehemiah secretly surveyed the whole City and kept his burden to himself but prayed and sought after the will of the Lord concerning this.

Nehemiah reveals his Burden.

Nehemiah 2:17-18 Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.
Nehemiah told the people his vision and explained that God was in this and he was gonna be the strength to do this.
The people caught a hold of the burden with a will and a passion to work.

The work Begins

Nehemiah 3:1 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.

The Rebuilding begins

The high priest and his brethren rose up and begin to build the sheep gate. I think it is appropriate the the Shepherds begin with the Sheep gate.
After the high priest started all the rest begin to rebuild. All it takes is for someone to arise and begin to work and others will follow.

The enemy takes Notice

Nehemiah 4:1-2 But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews. And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
Not every one will be on board. Remember the enemy does not want the walls of protection built up. For his Job is to steal kill and destroy.
The Church will have to fight for the city to be refortified. The enemy will do what ever it can to stop the work from going forward.
Nehemiah 4:4-5 Hear, O our God; for we are despised: and turn their reproach upon their own head, and give them for a prey in the land of captivity: And cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be blotted out from before thee: for they have provoked thee to anger before the builders.
Nehemiah fought the battle with faith and Prayer. He not only prayed for themselves but also against those who wanted to stop the rebuilding of the walls.
when the enemy noticed that some of the breaches was being closed and filled the more angry they got.
the Enemy began to gather others together to fight the work and hinder it.
Nehemiah 4:9 Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.
Nehemiah answered with Prayer no one stopped working. They Prayed and work in one accord. for they had a mind to work.
Nehemiah 4:11 And our adversaries said, They shall not know, neither see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.
The adversary has no rules if he has to kill you to stop you he will. his only goal is to stop the Church from Revival and Building the Walls of protection.
So the people continued to work. with a weapon in one hand.
Nehemiah 4:17 They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

We must complete Gods Work

Nehemiah 6:15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.
the Enemy says it can not be done. But with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
I remember a story about a man who had bought a few goats. He had a little piece of Land that he felt was safe and put them on it. he placed them in a good fence that he had built. When he came to feed them the goats had escaped. He repaired the fence and put them back in it. When He came back the same thing had occured so he Repaired it made it a little stronger put them back up and went Home. He went back to check on them and the was out again. He made up his mind if they want out that bad I will leave them out. He came back again and Every Goat was dead Some Animal had killed them all. It dawned on him that if only the goats knew that those walls was not not keep them from freedom but was walls of protection from the enemies that wanted to do them harm.

Never forget that the Church is walls of Safety

Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
