Master, Lord

Srirachi shortage gate 2023
3 Different Lord’s in the Bible:
Yahweh or YHWY: I am the I am Written in your English Bible As LORD
Exodus 3:14–15 NKJV
14 And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” 15 Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’
2. Is the name lord
David called Saul lord
1 Peter 3:6 NKJV
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
Husband
3. Is in our Bible Lord=Adonai
“someone or something having power, authority, or influence; a master or ruler.”
noun from the verb “to rule” or “to possess”. Literally possessor/ruler. But Adonai is the possessive/genitive form so it means “my lord” but more literally = ‘You are mine and I am Yours’
Over time:
God gave Moses his name YAHWEH
The terragramaton YHWY
Over time the Jews wanting to reverence God
And for a fear of taking his name in vain
They changed YHWY to Adonai
They believed that Yahweh is so sacred that they dare not udder his name or even spell it
Throughout Jewish / Hebrew history we find that when the Jews came back from Babylon after their 70 years of capitivity (the judgement of God) they were afraid to use his name “YHWH” or Yahweh so they use the word Adoni in its place a fill in name when reading the Hebrew (Old Testament) scriptures because of their overly reverence for Him and His name.
I want you to see what happens to people in the Bible when God goes from LORD YHWY to LORD ADONAI:
We all have a choice who Yahweh is in our lives
Abraham (The Father of Faith)
A man who set a precedent for his family and an entire nation
Abraham was extremely wealthy
Genesis 12:1–4 NKJV
1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” 4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
God leads Abram at that time to save his nephew lot
He called on the name of the Lord(Yahweh)
Genesis 15:1–6 NKJV
1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” 2 But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” 5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” 6 And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
He not only believed Him which was accounted unto him as righteousness
He calls him Lord
God will always be Yahweh
But it’s up to us to make Him Adonai or Lord
2. Gideon
Judges 6:1–2 NKJV
1 Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. So the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years, 2 and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made for themselves the dens, the caves, and the strongholds which are in the mountains.
Judges 6:9–10 NKJV
9 and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out before you and gave you their land. 10 Also I said to you, “I am the Lord your God; do not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.” But you have not obeyed My voice.’ ”
Judges 6:13–14 NKJV
13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” 14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”
Judges 6:15–17 NKJV
15 So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” 16 And the Lord said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.” 17 Then he said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me.
Gideon takes 300 men and defeats an Army of 135,000 in epic style
When he Made Yahweh Lord or Adonai / Master, ruler, followed his plan
He puts the super on our natural:
A lot of people believe in Yahweh
A lot of people believe there’s a God
They might believe in the things of the bible
But they still want to be the lord of their own lives
If we make YAHWEH Lord(to rule” or “to possess”. Literally possessor/ruler)
God gives you the choice
The word Lord or Adonai says more about YOU than it does about God:
Abram was made Abraham because he made God the lord or master of his life
From a childless man to the Father of Nations
A patriarch of Faith
Hebrews 11:12 NKJV
12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.
Gideon he took from the weakest tribe and the weakest of His father’s house
Gideon means cutter or cutter of trees
From common man to
To being regarded as the greatest judge Isreal had
When we Make God Lord over our lives he takes us from ordinary broken people to people who can change our Families, Our schools, our city, our nation, Change a whole world
3. Jesus
Luke 22:42 NKJV
42 saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.”
John 5:18 NKJV
18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.
In the old testament God was rarely referred to as Father (it was used but not commonly)
Before Jesus there was still a disconnect there
Jesus took us from a slave to master relationship
To us being able to call God Father
Religion today will still try and tell you that this is a slave and Master relationship
God isn’t mad at you, He wants to be Lord over your life
But most of all He wants to be your Father
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
