WHO IS THE WISEST PERSON YOU KNOW?
TRUTH AND WISDOM ARE HARD TO DISCERN THESE DAYS
We are surrounded by more information than ever in the history of the world.
We have the ability at any time to find the answer to anything we want in seconds.
and what’s funny about it is, you can google one thing, and find links that affirm and that disprove the same thing.
SO HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT’S ACTUALLY TRUTH? WHAT IS ACTUALLY WISE?
AND WHEN WE DO FIND OUT WHAT THE TRUTH IS HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT.
WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS THAT ARE CONNECTED.
KNOWLEDGE IS WHAT YOU KNOW. WISDOM IS WHAT YOU DO WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE.
Wisdom is not just knowing it’s knowing what to do. When to do it. How to do it. Doing things the right way for the right reason.
THE BIBLE IS FULL OF WISDOM FOR YOUR LIFE. AND SPECIFICALLY PROVERBS IS ALSO CALLED THE BOOK OF WISDOM.
Through this series we are going to be diving into this book of wisdom and learning not just what we should do… because a lot of us know that. But learn how, when and in what ways we should do the things God has called us to do.
I WANT TO BE WISE WHEN IT COMES TO FOLLOWING JESUS.
Tell me if you can relate to this. I know what God wants me to do. Or at least I have an idea of what it is. But i’m overwhelmed with the questions of HOW? WHEN? IN WHAT WAY?
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.
This word fear means reverence. That I acknowledge who God is. What He can do. That He knows the plan for my life that He knows the way that I should go. That He knows what’s best for me. That He loves me.
WE have reverence for God in many different ways,
Making God A Priority
Living a life that is honoring to God
Worship
Also taking God at his word. Believing that He really is what He says he is. Understanding his thoughts for you and I.
GOD HAD SAID THIS IS HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU. THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT YOU. THESE ARE THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU. THIS IS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU.
DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH GOD LOVES AND CARES ABOUT YOU.
He cares and loves everyone but I mean specifically YOU. It’s easy to believe God loves everyone but why is it so much harder to believe that He loves specifically me? Like he has thoughts and plans and a future for ME specifically.
Created you
Saw everything you would ever do right and wrong
sent his son to die for you
promises that He has a plan for you
When I’m able to really start to understand that I start to see how God’s way is better. I start to really understand how much better his ways are over my own.
And the verse in proverbs we just read....
7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline.
Says that understanding that. Believing that is the beginning of knowledge.
You want your life to follow God’s plan. You want to live in the center of God’s will for your life it starts with truly believing and knowing how God thinks and feels about you.
WHAT IF YOU STARTED TO REMIND YOURSELF DAILY HOW GOD FEELS ABOUT YOU? WHAT HIS THOUGHTS FOR YOU ARE?
When I realize God has a plan I seek his plan. When I realize God has a future for me I don’t want to stray away from it. When I realize God sent his son to die for me even though I would sin then I start to realize that there’s nothing I can do that’s going to change that love.
Many people have put their relationship with God on pause because they messed up they dove into sin and believed the lie from the enemy that God’s thoughts about them have changed. THAT COULDN’T BE MORE WRONG.
2 At dawn he went to the temple again, and all the people were coming to him. He sat down and began to teach them.
3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center.
4 “Teacher,” they said to him, “this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery.
5 In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”
6 They asked this to trap him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse him. Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with his finger.
7 When they persisted in questioning him, he stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her.”
8 Then he stooped down again and continued writing on the ground.
9 When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only he was left, with the woman in the center.
10 When Jesus stood up, he said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, Lord,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”]
Jesus wants you to know that if you have a relationship with him, if you know him, that there is no longer any condemnation. And not only will he forgive you but he also wants to lead you to a better life.
IF WE ARE GOING TO GET WISDOM WE HAVE THE FIRST REALIZE THAT GOD MEANS WHAT HE SAYS THAT INCLUDES WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT YOU.
Because days are going to come where you fail. Where you mess up. Where you fall. and the enemy is going to be quick to try and make sure that you believe false stories about how God doesn’t love you. He doesn’t care for you. You are your mistake. And when I don’t understand correctly what God thinks about me then the decisions I make based on that belief are never wise.
WHO IS THE WISEST PERSON YOU KNOW??
For me it’s my counselor John Shepherd.
January
10 Weeks from pastoring
Counseling every week and I am still going every other week now
Asked him how to know what to do? How do I move forward. How do I make sure this situation doesn’t break me but makes me better and it’s not wasted. Something I can look back on as a growing season.
He gave me some practical advice. Things I could start doing. Things I was able to do.
But he said that ultimately I have to trust in God. Know that He has a plan. And that I needed to make sure that my relationship with God was growing, I needed to focus on Jesus.
And i remember that first meeting. Im trying not to cry in front of this guy I just met. And he prayed for me. And when He prayed he prayed that God would give me wisdom.
AND IT REMINDED ME OF THIS VERSE
5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him.
GOD WANTS YOU TO KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IN YOUR MARRIAGE.
HOW TO RAISE YOUR KIDS
HOW TO MAKE BETTER DECISIONS
HOW TO BREAK ADDICTIONS
HOW TO GROW CLOSER TO HIM
HOW TO WALK IN HIS PURPOSE FOR YOU
HOW TO LIVE IN THE CENTER OF HIS WILL
MY QUESTION IS ARE YOU ASKING? AND ARE YOU CONTINUING TO ASK EVEN WHEN IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVEN’T GOTTEN AN ANSWER. AND ARE YOU WILLING TO DO WHATEVER HE ASKS YOU TO DO TO GET THERE?
THAT’S WISDOM
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
