Introduction: Blessings of Being Saved (review); definition of sin - only God can rescue us. Tonight, we’re going to consider a purpose in God choosing to rescue from sin. God has saved us so that we would serve Him! (Ephesians 2:10)
Transition: The question is, how is it that only God can rescue us? It’s because every saved person is God’s special creation in Christ!
We are God’s workmanship, therefore we cannot earn our salvation by works
We are God’s Workmanship

Salvation is the special working of God. (Special - no one else can do this)
As God’s workmanship, those who are saved are new creations in Christ Jesus
Illustration: Grand prix car - you give it a special design that identifies you created it, not anyone else!
Our identity is being shaped to be like Christ (We are being changed to think, speak and act like Christ!)
We’re united to Christ, so that we can never be separated (emphasize)
Transition: While we cannot earn salvation by works, God makes is clear that He has a special plan for works in the life of a Christian.
God has prepared us to serve Him, therefore we work in demonstration of our salvation.
Good Works

God has good works that He wants you to do that result from you being saved (Blessing of Being saved: transformation [holy & blameless])
Prepared
What does it mean to prepare?
Example: preparing for camp - you set out the things that you will need to use when you are away from home
God planned how He wanted you to serve Him
Walk
We walk everyday and this is about what happens in everyday life
Some good works: tell the truth, work to share with others, be kind (tie to singing in church)
Illustration: Bring child up and discuss how good works come up in daily life
Example: Grand prix - someone else wins
Conclusion: If God has saved you, He is working in your life so that you would perform good works that demonstrate how He is transforming your life to be like Christ everyday! Let’s ask the Lord to continue helping us to change to be like Christ!
